Gameweek 27 Best Wildcard Team
In this article we focus on the Gameweek 27 best wildcard team. Using the fixture ticker and underlying data from the Fantasy Football Scout members area we build the best wildcard team for the run ahead. We also take into account the potential Blank and Double Gameweeks.
The period ahead could be very challenging for FPL managers to navigate so many within the community could be ready to shake up their fantasy teams. Because of this taking a look at the Gameweek 27 best wildcard team could be extremely beneficial.
Note: This will be updated after the cup results this week.
Fixture ticker
Below we can see that the fixtures ticker covers the next six Gameweeks (from Gameweek 27-32).
Double Gameweek 28
Both Bournemouth and Luton play twice in Gameweek 28. This is something we have to take into account.
Blank Gameweek 29
Prior to the Cup matches this week the only fixtures that are certain to play in Gameweek 29 so far include Aston Villa v West Ham, Tottenham v Fulham and Brentford v Burnley.
Gameweek 26 Best Wildcard Team
The Wildcard team below would give owners three double Gameweek 28 players and nine Blank Gameweek 29 players without transfers.
Goalkeepers
Rotating Newcastle’ Martin Dubravka (£4.2m) and West Ham’ Alphonse Areola (£4.2m) could still be a good move looking ahead. Both schedules rotate well with each other around good fixtures. Areola also plays a match in Blank Gameweek 29.
Defenders
Marcos Senesi (£4.5m) is nice and cheap but his side also have a Double Gameweek in 28 which is a huge appeal. Senesi doesn’t just have clean sheet potential as he has already managed three goals and two assists this season.
Arsenal continue to maintain the best defence in the league so defensive investment could be key. Gabriel (£5.2m) comes in at a great price but he has also netted three times in his last five league matches, showing he has goal threat.
Many have been here before with Matty Cash (£4.6m) and won’t like this pick. However, he is the only defender to start all of the last four league matches for his side and could be the most reliable moving forward. Cash also plays in Blank Gameweek 29 which adds to his appeal.
Owning a Tottenham defender will be key during Blank Gameweek 29 and Destiny Udogie (£4.9m) could be the pick if fit. Udogie has a nice mix of a fair price-tag and attacking threat. No defender has managed more touches in the oppositions box than Udogie which also adds to his appeal.
Luton have been frustrating but they have a much better Double Gameweek in 28 than they did in 25 which gives their assets more potential. With that in mind Alfie Doughty (£4.6m) could be a good pick. Doughty has sustained some of the best distribution data amongst defenders all season.
Midfielders
Arsenal have some mixed fixtures ahead but what isn’t mixed is the form of their star man Bukayo Saka (£9.2m). Saka has been dominating several key underlying offensive metrics for some weeks and he has also racked up four double-digit hauls in his last five matches.
Aston Villa have good fixtures and play in Gameweek 29 so heavy investment could be rewarding. Filling up a spot in midfield is penalty taker Douglas Luiz (£5.6m). Some doubted his potential from open play but after a brace in his last match, many will be much more convinced than they were.
Tottenham continue to maintain some of the best attacking stats in the league and main man Son Heung-Min (£9.6m) rises above the rest. Not only is Son the standout attacker in his Tottenham side but he could also be the standout captaincy option in Blank Gameweek 29.
West Ham have fantastic fixtures ahead from an attacking sense, as well as a fixture in Gameweek 29. The return of Lucas Paqueta from injury could be a turning point for Jarrod Bowen’ (£7.7m) recent form. Prior to his recent slump Bowen collected an impressive 11 goals and two assists which reflects his true potential.
Fulham have a brilliant schedule ahead of them from an attacking perspective and they also play in Gameweek 29. Willian (£5.3m) is recovering from a recent injury but appears close to being match ready. The Brazilian has been one of Fulham’ most influential players this season.
Forwards
Bournemouth’ double Gameweek makes it next to impossible to go without main man Dominic Solanke (£7.1m). Solanke is currently having his best ever Premier League season and with penalty duty as well as good form, he could well be the standout captaincy option for Gameweek 28. Some may decide to swap Solanke out for Brentford’ Ivan Toney in Gameweek 29 who has a fixture.
Ollie Watkins (£8.8m) currently sits above every other player in the game for FPL points which shows how relentless he has been this season. His form makes him one of the best assets in the game but his fixture in Gameweek 29 makes him an essential.
It is that time of the season where Manchester City usually go on a relentless scoring and results run. Because of this, backing Erling Haaland (£14.4m) feels like a very easy decision. If we start to see his minutes managed through the busy period ahead then some may consider selling him to help fund Mohamed Salah.
