Gameweek 21 Best Free Hit Team

With a new Gameweek upon us we take a look at the free hit chip. Using the Fantasy Football Scout members area we can utilise the season ticker and underlying stats to determine the Gameweek 21 best free hit team.

The free hit chip in FPL allows managers, within the same budget and formational limits, to select a team for one particular Gameweek. Managers can attack any given Gameweek with the free hit whether that be to utilise a good set of fixtures, in-form teams or players or a mixture of it all.

Fixtures

Who has the best fixtures?

Burnley, Brentford, Brighton, West Ham and Luton all rank in the top five teams with the easiest fixtures.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Newcastle, Crystal Palace, Manchester City, Tottenham and Bournemouth all rank in the bottom five teams with the worst fixtures.

Gameweek 21 Best Free Hit Team

Using the Live FPL website we can use one of its fantastic tools to plan transfers weeks in advance. Not just this, but we can also create team drafts to plan for using a chip. Take a look at the best free hit team for Gameweek 21:

Goalkeepers

West Ham go into their match with three back-to-back clean sheets under their belt. This bodes well for Alphonse Areola (£4.2m) who has managed two double-digit returns in his last two games. He faces Sheffield United next so has a great opportunity to continue his form. Backing him up but unlikely to feature for us is Nottingham Forest’ Matt Turner (£3.9m) who helps to enable the rest of the team.

Defenders

Only Trent Alexander-Arnold has edged Pedro Porro (£5.7m) for non-penalty expected goal involvement in the last six matches which shows how promising he is. Porro has also managed the joint most assists in the same period amongst defenders.

As we can see from above Trent Alexander-Arnold (£8.5m) is dominating defenders for non-penalty expected goal involvement in the last six games. In terms of output Trent has racked up at least one return in a huge eight of his last 10 matches showing fantastic consistency.

Brighton have a great fixture this week against Wolves. Although defensively ropey this season the Seagulls kept their first clean sheet in their last match in the league. Offering much more than clean sheets is Pervis Estupinan (£4.9m). The Brighton full-back may have been hampered by injuries this season but so far he’s managed three goals and three assists in 10 matches.

Chelsea’ Malo Gusto (£4.2m) and Alfie Doughty (£4.4m) are great options off the bench if needed or preferred.

Midfielders

Brighton’ most reliable attacker this season is Pascal Gross (£6.4m). He edges every other teammate for minutes played. He also sits in the top four players in the league in the last six matches for non-penalty expected goal involvement.

West Ham come up against the worst defence in the league next up so investing in their frontline could be beneficial. The standout option of course is main man Jarrod Bowen (£8.1m) who sits as the fifth highest scoring player in the game due to his form this season. Monitoring news on his recent injury will be key as we approach the deadline. If Bowen is confirmed to be injured then he is an easy switch to Manchester City’ Phil Foden.

Chelsea remain one of the best teams in the division for expected goal scored this season. With that in mind and their fixture against a poor Fulham side Cole Palmer (£5.6m) could be a great pick. Palmer bagged two colossal hauls of 14 and 18 points in his last four matches which shows how explosive he can be. He also takes penalties which is a huge bonus.

Tottenham have been maintaining some of the best offensive stats in the league this season. Leading their free-flowing frontline is Richarlison (£6.9m) who has returned at least once in three of his last five matches.

Crystal Palace are evidently struggling and Arsenal will be hoping to bag three points this week to remain in the title race. The best option in the Arsenal attack is Bukayo Saka (£9m). Although Saka has struggled recently he remains the sixth highest scoring player in the game and takes his teams penalties.

Forwards

Manchester City face a Newcastle side who in the last six Gameweeks have maintained some of the worst underlying defensive data in the league. Leading the frontline and taking penalties could be Erling Haaland (£13.9m). Even though injured for some time the Norwegian still dominates multiple offensive metrics. Monitoring news on his injury will be vital in his inclusion.

Everton are another team conceding plenty of goals recently so targeting their defence could be rewarding. Leading one of the most efficient attacks in the league is Ollie Watkins (£8.9m) who sits as the third highest scoring player in the game due to his relentless form this season.

Enabling the rest of the team is Luton’ Elijah Adebayo (£4.8m) who could be a fun pick against a woeful Burnley defence. For now Adebayo stays firmly on the bench.
