Gameweek 20 Team

Gameweek 20 Team

After a miserable Boxing Day, we look to bounce back for the Gameweek 20 team.

Just one free transfer is available to contend with out of form assets Sterling, Laporte and Alonso.

Here’s the Gameweek 20 team and squad prior to the transfer deadline.

Gameweek 20 Squad

A miserable Boxing Day saw a drop in rank from 6.5k to 23.5k, with just 45 points scored. Team value is at 103.7 million, with nothing in the bank and one free transfer.

Rashford is the issue in our front line: a blank last time out was disappointing and he could easily lose his place to Lukaku. Sterling is out of form in midfield and remains a rotation risk. Alonso and Laporte are failing to fulfil their premium price tags, but both are still more than capable of creating chances. Are they due a rest?

A number of transfer options were considered, including saving the transfer and giving assets one more week. A move away from Sterling was most tempting: he’s got poor form, City are low on confidence and he’s a major rotation risk too. We looked at swaps for Hazard, Pogba or Son.

Gameweek 20 Team

In the end, Hazard is given the nod. It was a mistake to sell him in Gameweek 16 following his barren spell due to injury. He looks back to his best, has great fixtures and is playing out of position as a forward. He seems to be getting consistent minutes and is the talisman for this Chelsea side.

The team picks itself, with a clear weakness in defence due to poor fixtures. Hopefully attacking returns prevail: a playing bench should cover any rotation or last-minute injuries.

Kane, Salah and Hazard were all considered for captaincy. Kane’s form, home fixture and an early substitution last time out means that he’s given the nod. Salah doesn’t have a convincing enough record against top six sides this season and Crystal Palace have been very difficult to break down in recent games.
