Gameweek 20 Best Free Hit
Using the PLANFPL website and its fantastic tools we present to you the Gameweek 20 best free hit team:
Goalkeepers
Bournemouth rank high on the fixture ticker this week. The Cherries come up against an Everton side whom have failed to score in seven of their previous 10 matches. Interestingly, Bournemouth have impressed from a defensive perspective – keeping two clean sheets in their last three games. Both combine to suggest that Kepa Arrizabalaga (£4.5m) has potential this week.
The injury to Mark Flekken likely means that Brentford’ back-up Hákon Rafn Valdimarsson (£3.9m) will step up in the number one role. He sits on the bench and will remain there unless Arrizabalaga fails to feature.
Defenders
Both of Aston Villa’ clean sheets have come at home this season, and they play there this week. Leicester lay ahead, who have scored in just one of their previous four matches. Taking that and his impressive distribution data into account, full-back Lucas Digne (£4.6m) could have multiple routes to points.
Another player who offers huge assist potential going into the new round is Antonee Robinson (£4.9m). The American international has managed a leading seven assists among defenders this season, and clashes with promoted side Ipswich this week.
Based on excellent underlying defensive metrics recently, investing in the Arsenal defence, regardless of fixtures, could be beneficial. The standout Arsenal defender is still Gabriel (£6.3m). As well as having clean sheet potential, the Brazilian has already produced six goals in all competitions this campaign.
On the bench is Manchester City’ Rico Lewis (£4.6m) and Nottingham Forest’ Nikola Milenković (£4.7m). Both players come off the back of securing a clean sheet in Gameweek 19, and both also have proven attacking threat.
Midfielders
Southampton sit bottom of the Premier League table after an awful campaign so far. They also rank as the worst side in the league for big chances conceded. This could indicate huge potential for Brentford penalty taker and talisman Bryan Mbeumo (£7.6m).
Another player facing a poor promoted side is Morgan Rogers (£5.5m). Aston Villa are considerably stronger when it comes to performances, and they face the joint worst side in the league for total goals conceded next up.
Mohamed Salah (£13.6m) has become an absolute essential in FPL. Liverpool sit at the top of the league and their main man is in relentless form. This week he faces a team he enjoys playing against in terms of output, so backing against him, even with the captaincy armband, could prove devastating for rank and mini-league position.
Another player who has become an integral asset for the FPL managers is Cole Palmer (£11.4m). Chelsea rank among the top three sides for goals scored, and this week they face Crystal Palace, so Palmer could have another opportunity to add to his impressive season tally.
Rotation between the strikers suggests that Alex Iwobi (£5.9m) could be Fulham’ most reliable attacker for minutes. This week Iwobi faces Ipswich, who rank second worst overall for total big chances conceded.
Backing up the attackers in the event any of them fail to feature is Bournemouth talisman Antoine Semenyo (£5.6m). Semenyo clashes with Everton at home this week, so some FPL managers may even start him ahead of another pick.
Forwards
As well as conceding the joint most goals this season, as mentioned above, Leicester also rank as the worst in the league for total shots in the box conceded. This could play into the hands of Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins (£8.8m).
With five consecutive returns, Alexander Isak (£9.2m) goes into his clash with Tottenham in great form. Tottenham have been poor defensively this season and have conceded between 2-6 goals in three of their last five fixtures. Taking that and Newcastle’ impressive recent scoring form, Isak should be a shoo-in this week.
Conceding 42 goals and ranking as the joint worst side for goals conceded with Leicester so far is Wolves. They come up against a well drilled Nottingham Forest side who still sit among the top four in the league. Leading the attack is Chris Wood (£6.6m), who has already racked up 11 goals this season.
