Gameweek 17 Team
There’s an injury crisis for the Gameweek 17 team, with two players flagged and just one free transfer.
The big decisions were which injury to deal with first or whether to take a points hit.
Gameweek 17 Squad
Here’s the shape of the Gameweek 17 team ahead of the deadline, with one free transfer to play with. The team is currently ranked at 2.5k, with 0.1 million in the bank. Team value lies at 103.9 million, with 1,052 overall points. The squad is in reasonable shape, apart from the flagged Alexander-Arnold and Callum Wilson. Ryan is out of form, Kane and Jimenez have recently seen rests, so should see significant minutes over Christmas.Gameweek 17 Transfers
The options available were to either transfer out Alexander-Arnold or Callum Wilson. There was also the option to roll the transfer or sell both injured players. The prognosis on the team news suggests that Callum Wilson has a good chance of starting this weekend and we don’t want to lose an in form player, so he stays, with options on the bench to cover if he does miss out. With the options narrowed to rolling the transfer, or ditching Trent, the slightly longer term nature of his issue meant that a swap would be best. Doherty, Digne, Kolasinac and Lovren were all under consideration. Doherty has the form, ownership and track record. Digne has finally delivered but faces stiffer fixtures. Kolasinac has been chipping in with attacking returns, but Arsenal have injury issues and he is a rotation risk. Lovren should be nailed on, but worsens the Liverpool defence who have poor fixtures and big injury concerns also.Gameweek 17 Team
With Alexander-Arnold needing replacing, and Doherty continuously punishing us on a weekly basis with his hauls, we’ve finally taken the plunge on the Wolves wing-back who remains great value in this position. Many of our assets face each other this week: we will be hoping for a 0-0 down in Brighton, plenty of goals at the Etihad and in the Wolves-Bournemouth fixture. All of the premium options presented strong captain options with home games. Kane gets the nod against the worst defence: he is in form and has been recently rested. Spurs will be high on confidence after progressing in the Champions League and a good performance from Kane here will boost his chances of winning the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award on Sunday evening. Sterling could be rotation prone, so Salah takes the vice captain.BEFORE YOU GO….
