Community XI: Gameweek 17 Preview
The community return to provide all their advice for the Gameweek 17 preview.
Is Harry Kane the essential heavy hitter as we move into the festive period?
1. Vs
FPL Vs has tweaked the unique fixture tracker, which is now called the “Opposition Defensive Ratings Tracker”. It shows that Spurs have excellent fixtures for the Gameweek 17 preview, strengthening momentum for Harry Kane. Don’t overlook Hazard though.
2. Hopcroft
Based on long term expected goals conceded data, it’s Arsenal who have the pick of the weak opposition over the course of their next 5 games. Aubameyang is still vying for our attention as a premium striker, despite an underwhelming performance last time around.
3. Dinnery
A yellow-flagged Callum Wilson increases interest in forwards in the market. Ben Dinnery provides the latest injury update for the Gameweek 17 preview, with the prognosis looking positive for a return against Wolves. There’s also important news for David Silva and Trent Alexander-Arnold owners.
4. General
With injuries generally piling up at this congested stage of the season, potential suspensions cause even more headaches. The General advises us on those walking the tightrope: this many influence transfers in, with Torreira and Mitrovic popular options.
5. Cheaters
The Hail Cheaters provide the Gameweek 17 preview in episode 152 of the Always Cheating podcast. It’s no surprise to see heavy hitters at the top of the agenda. Make sure you hear their take on the “top 3” from Salah, Hazard, Sterling, Kane and Aubameyang.
6. Tips
For the Gameweek 17 preview, FPL Tips is debating a big move from Salah to Sterling for his team. It’s a tough call between form and fixtures here, as many managers attempt to maximise points and value from their most expensive players during the busy spell.
7. Poland
FPL Poland joined the Gameweek 17 preview with some statistical comparisons of key players in his latest Twitter thread. The big premium forwards, Kane and Aubameyang, are top of the agenda, with very little to split this pair over their last six games.
8. Doug
As managers attempt to maximise funds in attack, the defence are getting neglected. If you are desperate to save funds, a move from Alonso to Luiz could just be supported going on the long-term data. It doesn’t come without risk though given relative ownership.
9. Andy
It was Everton’s Lucas Digne who had the last laugh in Gameweek 16, with a spectacular free kick to provide late points for his owners. Let’s Talk FPL’s Andy has tipped him to be the best Everton asset for the next few games, overtaking Sigurdsson.
10. Tips
While attacking assets are favoured, it takes a brave FPL manager to go without any Liverpool defenders. They have the most clean sheets in the league and their record at home this season has been particularly impressive.
11. Secret FPLayer
Finally, The Secret FPLayer provides a captaincy thread for the next 6 weeks, taking us right through the festive schedule. Could this help sort out those big decisions on which premium players to own over the next few games?
