Gameweek 17 Best Wildcard Team

We look at the Gameweek 17 best wildcard team. Using the Fantasy Football Scout season ticker we can see which teams have the best run of fixtures. This can then aid FPL managers in picking out some of the best assets for the run ahead.

The wildcard gives managers the opportunity to change their entire team for any reason. Managers activate their wildcards for several reasons. Whether that be to target fixture swings or just change their team up, the wildcard can be precious to your planning.

Fixture ticker

Below we can see that the fixtures ticker covers the next six Gameweeks (from Gameweek 17-22).

Who has the best fixtures?

Chelsea, Luton, Brighton, West Ham and Bournemouth rank at the top with the easiest fixtures.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Crystal Palace, Manchester City, Nottingham Forest, Brentford and Newcastle rank at the bottom with the toughest fixtures.

Gameweek 17 Best Wildcard Team

Note: At the time of writing Erling Haaland looks set to miss the match in Gameweek 17. Because of that and the fact he doesn’t play in Gameweek 18 this is a non Haaland draft. However, there is plenty of money in the bank to help bring him back in after that.

Goalkeepers

Everton have been impressive recently and have managed three clean sheets on the bounce. Because of this and the fixtures Jordan Pickford (£4.4m), as frustrating as he has been for some managers this season, could be a great pick moving forward. His fixtures also rotate quite well with Newcastle’ Martin Dubravka (£4.1m). Both can be rotated in an out of the starting 11.

Defenders

The Chelsea fixtures look very good going forward but they also offer up some very cheap assets. One of them is Levi Colwill (£4.6m) who should benefit from the injury to teammate Reece James in terms of gametime. He also scored in one of his most recent matches.

Another side with good fixtures are Aston Villa. They have also kept back-to-back clean sheets against Arsenal and Manchester City in the last two. One of the cheapest and most reliable routes into the backline is Pau Torres (£4.7m).

Tottenham have proved they can keep clean sheets this season but Pedro Porro (£5.4m) also offers huge attacking potential. A good example of that is the fact he has managed four assists in his last five matches.

Liverpool look like they are making a title charge this season and one player who remains good value for money is Kostas Tsimkas (£4.9m). He will be rotated in and out of the starting 11 based on fixture difficulty.

Luton centre-back Teden Mengi (£3.9m) helps to enable funds elsewhere. Luton also have good fixtures so there could be a point that we need to start him.

Midfielders

Chelsea sit top of the fixture ticker so buying into their attack makes sense. Cole Palmer (£5.4m) stands out ahead of the rest as he takes penalties and has managed eight returns in his last 10 league matches.

Arsenal are also gunning for the title this season and they play some of the worst defences in the league ahead. With that in mind, his penalty taking duty and his consistency this season in FPL Bukayo Saka (£9m) makes the cut.

Liverpool remain above most teams for key attacking metrics recently. Because of that and how relentless he has been for most of the season Mohamed Salah (£13.1m) is an essential. He is also a very good captaincy option with the absence of Haaland.

Tottenham face some poor defences looking ahead and one player who has massive potential is Son Heung-Min (£9.5m). Son leads the free-flowing Spurs attack and takes his sides penalties. Son could also be a great captaincy alternative.

Newcastle may have tough fixtures after the next three games but prior to that things look great. The standout attacker in a Newcastle side that rank second best in the league for expected goals is Anthony Gordon (£6.2m) who has managed 10+ attacking returns already this season.

Forwards

Bournemouth are in a great run of form recently – winning four of their last five matches. Leading the frontline going into a favourable run of fixtures is Dominic Solanke (£6.6m) who also takes his sides penalties.

Aston Villa are another side in a great run of form – beating the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City recently. Spearheading the attack is Ollie Watkins (£8.4m) who sits as the fourth highest scoring player in the game due to his consistency.

Enabling the rest of the side is Sheffield United striker Cameron Archer (£4.6m).
