Gameweek 17 Best Free Hit Team
Using the Live FPL website we can use one of its fantastic tools to plan transfers weeks in advance. Not just this, but we can also create team drafts to plan for using a chip. Take a look at the best free hit team for Gameweek 17:
Goalkeepers
Everton are becoming one of the best defences in the league recently. The Toffees have now collected five clean sheets and three of them have come in the last three matches. Jordan Pickford (£4.4m) faces Burnley next up, one of the worst sides in the league. Because of that, he could well make it four returns on the bounce. Backing him up is Newcastle’ Martin Dubravka (£4.1m). He will only feature in the unlikely event Pickford doesn’t.
Defenders
Chelsea have been disappointing recently but they face off against the worst attack in the league up next. The Blues have a good chance of a clean sheet so investing in their defence could be beneficial. The injury to Reece James makes Levi Colwill (£4.6m) a safer pick in terms of minutes and he also helps to enable funds elsewhere.
The double up of the Tottenham defence could be an exciting one this week. There seems to be a lack of potential clean sheets this week so investing in two of the most attacking defenders in the division against a weak poor side seems like a high ceiling move. With that in mind we bring in Pedro Porro (£5.4m) who has managed four assists in his last five games and Destiny Udogie (£4.8m) who scored in his most recent match.
On the subs bench and enabling money to be used on other players in the side is Newcastle centre-back Jamal Lascelles (£4.2m) and Luton centre-back Teden Mengi (£3.9m).
Midfielders
Sheffield United are a team to target so buying into the Chelsea attack feels like a must this week. The standout Chelsea attacker is Cole Palmer (£5.4m). He ranks above all but one of the Chelsea attackers for non-penalty expected goal involvement in the last six matches but also takes penalties.
Newcastle have been struggling for results recently but they still rank second best amongst all teams for expected goals. Anthony Gordon (£6.2m) is the go to Newcastle attacker at the moment. So far this season Gordon has secured a return in nine of his 16 matches.
Liverpool are topping most of the attacking stats recently. Their opposition Manchester United were just dismantled by Bournemouth which is concerning for them but a massive opportunity for Mohamed Salah (£13.1m). If Erling Haaland is out due to injury then many will be considering the Egyptian for captaincy.
Son Heung-Min (£9.2m) managed a whopping 17 points in his latest match, showing how explosive he can be. He leads the exciting Tottenham attack and also takes penalties. Son has a brilliant opportunity next up against a Nottingham Forest side who have lost four of their last five matches.
Sitting first on the bench is Bournemouth’ Marcus Tavernier (£5.4m). Tavernier has managed a huge 28 FPL points in his last four matches and faces a game at home against Luton next up.
Forwards
There are rumours that Manchester City striker Erling Haaland (£14m) could be injured and if confirmed then teammate Julian Alvarez (£6.9m) could be a fantastic replacement. Crystal Palace have conceded at least two goals in four of their last five matches so owning the focal point to the Manchester City attack makes sense.
Bournemouth sit second best in the league in the last six Gameweeks for expected goals which is reflective of their great recent performances. Leading the attack is Dominic Solanke (£6.6m) who has managed four returns in his last five matches and takes penalties for his side.
The third highest scoring team in the league have a meeting with Brentford next up. Goals have been short for Aston Villa due to tough fixtures but that looks set to change this week. Ollie Watkins (£8.4m) has been brilliant this season and sits as the fourth highest scoring player in the game due to his consistency.
