Gameweek 16 Team
Arnautovic’s injury was the catalyst for change in the Gameweek 16 team.
Captaincy has become a huge decision for our Gameweek 16 team, with three strong options.
Gameweek 16 Squad
Here’s how the squad is looking ahead of the deadline. One free transfer is available for our Gameweek 16 team.
The team is currently ranked at 3k, with 0.0 million in the bank. Team value lies at 103.8 million. Arnautovic is out for a month so he needs replacing.
The overall squad is looking a little stronger this week: Alonso and Alexander-Arnold could be rotated in defence. Salah and Sterling are poised for starts after being rotated midweek: Fraser could miss a game.
Gameweek 16 Transfers
With Arnautovic out long term, his replacement was the key transfer decision for the Gameweek 16 team. The options were a -4 to upgrade to an Arsenal striker, a straight swap or a downgrade to Success to peruse a 3-5-2 with another premium midfielder.
Having taken a hit last gameweek and with reasonable satisfaction with the midfield, a straight swap was the strategy settled on. The key options were Wilson and Mitrovic.
Both of these players have left out squad in recent weeks and then delivered attacking returns on departure. Mitrovic has the better fixtures, but Wilson has the form.
Mitrovic is one booking away from a suspension which is a little off-putting during the congested period. Wilson appears to be fixture proof, having managed to score against Manchester City last weekend.
Gameweek 16 Team
After missing out on 18 points over two gameweeks, and 0.5 million in value, we admit defeat and go crawling back to Callum Wilson. It was a huge mistake to sell ahead of Gameweek 14!
There’s heavy investment in the early kick off, with 4 players. There were difficulties in defence, as Laporte and Alonso face each other. Benching Alonso for Bennett was considered, but the premium player was given the benefit of the doubt.
Captaincy was another huge decision for the Gameweek 16 team. Salah, Kane and Sterling were all strongly considered, although Sterling was ruled out due to fixture difficulty.
Kane has the form and Salah has the fixture. Ultimately, Salah has the higher ownership and his start looks more secure following his limited minutes on Wednesday, so he gets the nod for now. Can we resist a late switch for Kane?
