Goalkeepers

Chelsea have a fixture against the worst side in the league this week, Southampton. The Saints continue to sustain poor attacking data, and that could suggest clean sheet potential for man between the sticks Robert Sanchez (£4.7m).

Backing up Sanchez in the unlikely event he fails to feature is West Ham’ Lukasz Fabianski (£4.1m).

Defenders

Arsenal have a home match against an inconsistent Manchester United side up next. So the likes of Gabriel (£6.2m) and co could keep a clean sheet. If failing to do that, Gabriel also offers significant attacking threat.

The lack of clean sheets this season across the board has meant little depth in the defender bracket. Because of that, we could stick with Rico Lewis (£4.7m). As well as starting every match recently for Manchester City, he also faces Nottingham Forest at home.

Everton’ failure to score in their previous three matches (at the time of writing) suggests they are blunt in front of goal. Rayan Ait Nouri (£4.8m) of Wolves could take advantage of that, in terms of picking up a clean sheet, but he also offers attacking threat – having banked four goal contributions already this season.

On the bench, offering depth this week is Aston Villa’s Ezri Konsa (£4.4m) and Ipswich’ Leif Davis (£4.5m).

Midfielders

A fixture against one of the worst defences in the league this season, makes Cole Palmer (£10.9m) a shoo-in. With seven goals and five assists already this season, Palmer has been one of the best assets in the game so far.

Another player in excellent form this campaign is the Mohamed Salah (£13.1m). The Egyptian faces a Newcastle side, who have been hit and miss defensively this season, and that inconsistency is something Salah has taken advantage of all season from other sides.

Aston Villa are a much stronger side at home offensively, they have shown that for the last couple of seasons. One route into their efficient frontline is the cheap and enabling Morgan Rogers (£5.3m).

As good as Aston Villa are offensively, they have been poor in defence – conceding two or more goals in all of their last three matches. One player who could have potential against them is Brentford penalty taker Bryan Mbeumo (£7.9m).

An away fixture against Leicester could mean adding to the seven attacking returns Jarrod Bowen (£7.4m) has already managed this season. The Foxes rank amongst the worst two teams for multiple defensive metrics, so go into the game with a vulnerable defence.

Forwards

Chelsea rank amongst the best three teams for goals scored thus far, so doubling up on their attack going into a game against a poor Southampton side could be hugely rewarding. Because of this and his very good output this season, Nicolas Jackson (£8m) makes the cut.

No side have conceded more shots on target than Brentford (at the time of writing). This shows just how much potential an attacker has facing them. Taking that into account, it could be a huge mistake excluding their most dangerous attacker, Ollie Watkins (£9m).

Enabling the rest of the squad and a great option off the bench, is Wolves’ Strand Larsen (£5.6m). Larsen may not be as explosive as his teammate Cunha, but he has returned in two of his three games.
