Gameweek 13 Team
With just one free transfer, it’s been difficult to prepare the Gameweek 13 team.
The yellow flags have disappeared and now there’s a captaincy dilemma to contend with.
Gameweek 13 Squad
The Gameweek 13 team is looking in good shape, with just one yellow flag. There’s money in the bank, but of the main playing 11, there’s form on our side. To note, the Gameweek 13 squad is currently on 827 points, with an overall rank of 1,516. Team value currently lies at 104.4 million on Friday evening. The Gameweek 13 team is very similar to the Top 1,000 managers template team: Salah over Mane is a slight differential, with Laporte over Mendy looking promising given the injury to the latter. Ryan is a slight differential in defence, with Ryan Bennett covering Matt Doherty as a Wolves defender. Matt Doherty is a player on the watchlist, but isn’t affordable in the current set up.Gameweek 13 Captain
Of the outfield players, it’s an attacker to be favoured, with the key options considered Salah, Aguero and Richarlison. Can we make it 13 consecutive captain returns? Given the high rank and the point we are at in the season, it’s a conservative approach that is favoured. The plan for the festive period is to play the template and go with the popular option: for this reason, Richarlison is ruled out. The dilemma then is Salah against Aguero. Aguero plays in the more potent attack and arguably against the weaker defence. Salah has an excellent record against his opponents, with a higher ceiling given his listing as a midfielder. Aguero has penalties to potentially boost his score. His Champions League game comes sooner, but Salah has the more important midweek game in terms of qualification. Aguero has a far higher ownership in the top 1,000 so given that he may be backed by a higher proportion of managers, he gets the nod (JUST!)Gameweek 13 Team
In terms of transfers, Anthony Martial was fancied this week. Matt Doherty in defence, Raheem Sterling and Raul Jimenez were also considered as potential moves but very few straight swaps were viable and we didn’t want to overtinker. 2 free transfers will give greater flexibility next week. The big decision after the armband, was the tricky matchup between Arnautovic and Laporte. Ryan Bennett sits as the alternative, with a favourable home game against a goal-shy Huddersfield defence. It isn’t viable to bench Laporte: a clean sheet looks highly likely for the City defence, having kept 7 already this season. It seems just as likely an option as Wolves keeping a clean sheet, so we are loathed to bench the premium defender. The other option was to bench Arnautovic for this game. However, Ederson has had a couple of howlers in recent weeks and if anyone can exploit some poor decision-making, it’s the West Ham striker.BEFORE YOU GO….
