Gameweek 12 Recap
xG Non Penalty
Josh King – 1.02
Mohamed Salah – 0.98
Christian Pulisic – 0.97
Going into Gameweek 12 Manchester United and Watford were two of the worst defences based on the data over the last four Gameweeks. With many expecting a Ronaldo haul, the chances instead came from King. At £5.6m could the Watford man be the best budget forward? With the penalty miss(es) from Sarr, he may well be on the next penalty too.
Chances Created
James Ward-Prowse – 5
Jonjo Shelvey – 5
Stuart Dallas – 5
With five chances created against Brentford and a new look attacking philosophy at Newcastle, can Jonjo Shelvey replicate his previous FPL season’s where he achieved 6-7 assists. He also scored six goals as recently as 2019-20 and with fixtures against Burnley and Norwich coming up, the Newcastle midfielder may be worth scouting further.
Shots in the box
Josh King – 5
Christian Benteke – 5
Callum Wilson – 5
Christian Benteke now has four goals in his last five appearances and continues to show up in the underlying data, as he scored two against an unusually open Burnley. The Palace forward has proved in the past that he can score goals in the Premier League and he scored ten goals last season in a much more defensive system.
Expected Goals (Teams)
Liverpool – 3.34
Watford – 2.51
Manchester City – 2.40
Given how the games went it’s perhaps no surprise to see these teams in the top three for xG this week. What is worth noting however, is that Spurs recorded the fourth highest xG of the Gameweek (2.13), which could bode well for owners of Son or Kane.
