@FPLReaction’ top three picks for FPL Gameweek 8

With the new round edging closer we bring in Fantasy Football Community and Fantasy Football Scout contributor @FPLReaction’ (Louis) to reel off his top three picks for FPL Gameweek 8.

The early rounds are good opportunities to get off to a great start. Here I will give you my top three picks for FPL Gameweek 8 to try and help with that. There are some very obvious options with huge potential for the new round and whilst I will list them, I will also provide you with three different picks who I think could also do well.

The obvious options

  • Ollie Watkins (£8m)
  • Moussa Diaby (£6.7m)
  • Matty Cash (£4.9m)
  • Dominic Solanke (£6.4m)
  • Mohamed Salah (£12.6m)
  • Erling Haaland (£12.6m)
  • Bruno Fernandes (£8.4m)
  • Marcus Rashford (£8.8m)
  • Bryan Mbeumo (£6.8m)
  • Kieran Trippier (£6.8m)
  • Son Heung-min (£9.4m)
  • James Maddison (£8m)

Cole Palmer

Yep, you guessed it, a Chelsea player makes it into my top three picks yet again. Chelsea have been one of the most stressful teams to invest in, trust me I know! However, their ability to push aside weaker teams is pretty damning after the Fulham game.

Chelsea come up against Burnley next. The newly promoted side continue to disappoint from a defensive point of view. In fact, they rank the second worst in the entire league for goals conceded (16). But, that’s great for us managers who are looking for teams to target.

I selected Cole Palmer (£4.9m) in my top three picks last week for those that noticed. I also felt he would start the game due to his impressive performance in the Cup match before that and he did. Not only did Palmer start against Fulham but he was excellent and bagged an assist. Palmer looks like he is picking up form and gaining game time and because of that along with the fact he faces Fulham, I think he could do well again.

Darwin Nunez

Liverpool feel like they’ve been sliding under many fans radars this season so far. Albeit, there was a lot of attention and controversy surrounding their loss to Tottenham but excluding that the Reds have actually been very very good. Its also worth highlighting that Liverpool sit fourth in the table and have scored 16 goals which averages out at two scored per game.

Brighton are a mess defensively and I think that is being masked by the fact they are scoring plenty of goals. The fact they conceded six goals in their latest match seemed mad but it’s very reflective of how they’ve started the campaign at the back.

Either way, Brighton are a team to target and with the scoring form of the Liverpool attackers, it could be a great week for their frontline. Many will likely back Mohamed Salah but his goal threat stats are a major concern when taking into account his price-tag. Darwin Nunez (£7.4m) could well be the play here. His minutes should be assured at least for the short-term. He also bagged a return in three of the last four games he featured in. If it makes the data fans happy, he also sits second best amongst all forwards in the game for big chances total (eight). Overall I think Nunez could be a great pick this week and maybe even in the next.

Richarlison

Tottenham have probably been one of the best teams in the league to watch this season, probably the best actually. A lot of that is down to how much they have changed as a team since employing Ange Postecoglu and the departure of star man Harry Kane.

A lot of their qualities come from the Tottenham frontline but they are also maintaining good scoring numbers so its not just a big song and dance. Scoring more than two goals per game on average is not an easy feat but they are sustaining it. Tottenham have a great fixture ahead against a very poor Luton next.

The fixture is a good one for those looking to invest in Tottenham assets and as well as the obvious I think Richarlison (£6.7m) could do well. Yes he’s been frustrating for owners and his minutes have been unpredictable but he started and produced an assist against Liverpool. This is a great game for him and I think we could see another rise in the Brazilian’ stock over the next several Gameweeks.
