FPL Top Picks for Gameweek 24

Get ready for the new round of fantasy football as we give you the FPL Top Picks for Gameweek 24. With the help of the Fantasy Football Scout members area we use its stats and fixture ticker to determine who the best players to buy in each position are.

We are getting deeper into the season now so it’s even more crucial to know which players we should be targeting each and every week. So, lets take a look at the best goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and strikers for Gameweek 24 to help you make your moves.

Fixtures

Here is the Fantasy Football Scout Fixture Ticker for the round ahead. The teams at the top have the easiest fixtures and the teams at the bottom have the toughest fixtures. This can give us a good indication on which players have the most potential.

Goalkeepers – Ederson

Manchester City have been one of the best defences in the league this season in terms of underlying data although that hasn’t necessarily translated into clean sheets. The league holders have a double Gameweek ahead so investing in their defensive assets early may be beneficial.

Everton lay ahead next up. The Toffees have struggled in front of goal recently – failing to score in four of their last seven matches in all competitions. One of the safest Manchester City defensive players in terms of minutes is of course Ederson (£5.5m).

Allisson

It could be a good week for the more expensive goalkeepers which isn’t ideal. Liverpool have been one of the best defences in the league this season. In fact the Reds have managed to concede less goals than any other team and keep the joint most clean sheets.

Liverpool sit second on the fixture ticker this week and that is no major surprise when considering their opposition. Burnley have been extremely poor for most of the current campaign offensively so Alisson (£5.7m) could be an easy route to a clean sheet.

More Top Goalkeeper Picks

  • Thomas Kaminski – Luton – £4.5m
  • David Raya – Arsenal – £4.9m
  • Dorde Petrovic – Chelsea – £4.5m

Defenders – Alfie Doughty

As many will know, Luton are a completely different proposition for teams visiting them at home, which is where they play this week. The Hatters have improved hugely defensively – ranking in the top six teams for expected goals conceded in the last six Gameweeks.

With the above in mind and the fact that Luton face Sheffield United next up wing-back Alfie Doughty (£4.6m) could have clean sheet potential. Not just that but Doughty has huge offensive potential. Amongst defenders in the last six Gameweeks Doughty ranks second best for crossing, joint third for chances created and joint first for big chances created.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Our next pick has massive potential this week. Liverpool have been that good defensively recently that they sit top for expected goals conceded in the last six matches. They face a Burnley this week who rank, in the same period, amongst the bottom three teams for big chances total, total shots in the box and shots on target total.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (£8.5m) could well keep the clean sheet this week but he is also a menace offensively. Not only does Trent dominate the defenders bracket for most key distribution metrics but amongst all players in the entire game he sits second best for big chances created this season (13). Trent could be a key target for FPL managers this week.

Kieran Trippier

Newcastle will be hoping to take advantage of their good fixture run looking ahead. The Magpies may have struggled recently defensively but we have to remember they have racked up the second most clean sheets in the league this season for a reason.

Nottingham Forest lay ahead next up and it could be a great opportunity for Kieran Trippier (£6.8m) to gain some momentum. When compared to defenders in the last six Gameweeks Trippier sits in the top three for both total crosses and chances created. In addition no defender in the league has registered more assists than him this season (nine). He also scored and registered an assist in his latest match.

Gabriel

Arsenal are up there with Liverpool as one of the best defences in the league. When comparing their defensive data Arsenal rank second best for goals conceded and joint best for clean sheets kept. They have a good chance to continue that against West Ham this week.

Quickly becoming one of the most popular defenders in the game is Gabriel (£5m). The centre-back has proven to be a major goal threat recently. One example of that is his match against Crystal Palace where he managed to score two goals and rack up a massive 17 points.

Pedro Porro

There are so many good defender options this week and our next pick is right up there with the best. Tottenham have been well short defensively recently, especially when taking into account their underlying data.

The above may concern some but that hasn’t stopped Pedro Porro (£5.9m) from picking up returns. Porro has become one of the most consistent assets in the game as of late – bagging a return in six of the last 10 matches. Porro has also managed a huge seven assists this season which reflects how creative he can be.

More Top Defender Picks

  • Kyle Walker – Manchester City – £5.5m
  • Virgil Van Dijk – Liverpool – £6.3m
  • William Saliba – Arsenal – £5.6m
  • Ben Chilwell – Chelsea – £5.4m

Midfielders – Diogo Jota

It could be a very good week to own a Liverpool attacker. The Reds have proven to be one of the most lethal attacks in the league this season as they rank joint first for goals scored and top for expected goals so far. They also come up against one of the worst defences in the league next up so there is massive potential there.

One of the most efficient Liverpool attackers recently is Diogo Jota (£8.1m). The Portuguese international has been brilliant in the absence of Mohamed Salah and in terms of output has collected a return in four of his five last matches. It is worth highlighting that one of those returns came in the form of a huge 19 points which shows he can be explosive as well.

Phil Foden

There are so many factors backing Manchester City investment with the schedule ahead. As well as having a double Gameweek they also boast one of the best attacks in the league. If that wasn’t enough the league holders tend to get even better in the business end of the season.

One of the safest ways to invest in Manchester City frontline in terms of game time this season has been Phil Foden (£8m). Foden hasn’t just become and integral part of the Manchester City starting line-up but he has also been in a great run of form recently – hitting a return in four of his last five matches. Foden has the form to punish any opponent and Everton are up next so he breezes into the FPL top picks for Gameweek 24, especially after a 20-point haul in his latest match.

Cole Palmer

Chelsea will be hoping to put their awful defeat to Liverpool behind them this week. The Blues have impressed in parts of their season offensively – ranking third best overall for expected goals. They come up against Crystal Palace this week.

A game against the Eagles won’t be easy but Palace have been very poor defensively recently – conceding nine goals in their last three matches in all competitions. One player who is likely to take advantage of that is penalty taker Cole Palmer (£5.9m). Palmer continues to be a great asset recently – hitting two double-digit hauls in his last four matches.

Richarlison

This season Tottenham have been maintaining some of the best offensive data in the league. In fact, even recently they rank second best in the last six matches for goals scored (14). Brighton lay ahead next who have until recently massively struggled defensively. The Seagulls recently shipped four goals to promoted side Luton which could signal them as a team to target.

Leading the exciting Tottenham attack is of course Richarlison (£7.2m). Now, we are yet to see how his gametime will be effected with the return of Son but until we know, the Brazilian remains an excellent option. In terms of form Richarlison has converted at least once in six of his last seven matches which is something we cannot ignore.

More Top Midfielder Picks

  • Kevin De Bruyne – Manchester City – £10.8m
  • Luis Diaz – Liverpool – £7.4m
  • Ross Barkley – Luton – £4.9m
  • Pedro Neto – Wolves – £5.7m

Forwards – Darwin Nunez

Our first forward pick is one of the most frustrating and exciting picks in the entire game, depending on how you view it. The Liverpool attack is statistically the best in the league so buying into could be deemed essential. The fact they face Burnley this week means it could be very difficult to avoid a Liverpool attacker.

Now many will be looking at Darwin Nunez (£7.4m) as an issue and many will be looking at him as a player to buy. This is because of his recent performances. When it comes to his data amongst all forwards Nunez sits as the best for non-penalty expected goal involvement, top for total attempts on goal and the best for big chances total. Nunez does have an issue with converting chances but considering how many chances he gets it could be easy to look past, or not.

Erling Haaland

Manchester City’ main man is back and if you didn’t buy him last week then this week will just have to do. The title challengers have all of their key players back which could mean we see an even stronger Manchester City frontline moving forward.

The above benefits one man in particular, Erling Haaland (£14.2m). The Norwegian was brilliant in the first part of the season – maintaining the best attacking data in the league when compared to every other player. Haaland is also a very good captaincy option this week which makes him even more appealing and a very easy addition into the FPL top picks for Gameweek 24.

Dominic Solanke

The Fulham defence may have their work cut out this week. They have really struggled statistically they sit in the worst four teams for metrics like shots in the box conceded, total attempts on goal conceded and big chances total conceded which is a major issue when facing our next pick.

Dominic Solanke (£7.1m) continues to impress and remains a problem for managers looking to sell a striker. When focusing on his recent form Solanke has picked up at least one return in four of his six games. In terms of data he also ranks joint fourth for total attempts and third best for shots in the box when compared to all players in the last six Gameweeks.

More Top Forward Picks

  • Elijah Adebayo – Luton – £4.9m
  • Matheus Cunha – Wolves – £5.8m
  • Ivan Toney – Brentford – £8.1m
  • Ollie Watkins – Aston Villa – £8.8m
  • Nicolas Jackson – Chelsea – £6.8m
