Player ownership has become a massive part of Fantasy Premier League so knowing the top 10 most popular picks for Gameweek 22 can help when it comes to making hard decisions regarding the use of transfers, captaincy and more.
The Top Five
- Bukayo Saka (62%) – Saka sits top of the pile this week in terms of ownership. The Arsenal midfielder has been causing frustration amongst owners with recent performances. A game against a poor Nottingham Forest up next could be the opportunity he needs.
- Ollie Watkins (55.5%) – Aston Villa have a very tough-on-paper match against Newcastle. However, the Magpies are conceding some very poor defensive data this week and Ollie Watkins has the seasonal form to punish them.
- Erling Haaland (51.7%) – The Manchester City striker sits as the third highest owned player in the game. Haaland has been seen in training and is expected to play some minutes against a very poor Burnley defence.
- Kieran Trippier (38.1%) – Trippier is the highest owned defender in the game at the time of writing. The Newcastle full-back has failed to secure a return in any of his last seven matches. His recent form could continue this week with Aston Villa ahead.
- William Saliba (37.4%) – Arsenal are one of the best defences in the league so it makes sense that Saliba makes the top five. Owners could be regretting selecting Saliba over teammate Gabriel after the latter scored a brace last week.
The Rest of the Top 10
- Cole Palmer (37.3%) – Chelsea’ Cole Palmer is approaching the top five as he sits sixth. Managers may be in two minds about whether to start the midfielder this week as he comes up against a Liverpool side with huge motivation.
- Alphonse Areola (36.6%) – Areola is the only goalkeeper in the top 10. The West Ham man has helped his side to keep three clean sheets in the last four games. He could well start again this week for managers as he faces Bournemouth next.
- Julian Alvarez (35.8%) – Manchester City will no doubt be massive favourites this week. The current champions face-off with newly promoted side Burnley next up. With doubts around whether Haaland will play or not Alvarez becomes a much better option.
- Pedro Porro (33.4%) – Tottenham may be lacking when it comes to clean sheets but that doesn’t stop this man from returning. He has a match against Brentford this week, a side who have lost four of their last five matches.
- Phil Foden (28.6%) – It isn’t a major surprise that Foden sneaks into the top 10 this week. The Manchester City midfielder has been key for his side and should have bags of potential this week against a woeful Burnley backline.
