Best Players to Buy

FPL Planning for Gameweeks 17-19
  • Chelsea – Matches against Everton, Fulham and Ipswich suggests the Blues have huge potential ahead. Although keeping just three clean sheets this season, defensive options like goalkeeper Robert Sanchez (£4.8m) and defender Levi Colwill (£4.6m) could offer clean sheet potential. Midfielder Cole Palmer (£11.1m) could be considered an essential at this point, but striker Nicolas Jackson (£8.2m) remains another great pick. Another player we could consider in attack is midfielder Enzo Fernandez (£5m), who has returned in all of his last five matches.
  • Arsenal – The title challengers face Crystal Palace, Ipswich and Brentford in their next three games. Goalkeeper David Raya (£5.6m) is the cheapest route into defence, but one player who offers goal threat is centre-back William Saliba (£6.2m) who scored twice recently. Bukayo Saka (£10.6m) is another player many would categorise as an essential, but fellow midfielder Martin Odegaard (£8.3m) could be a great differential.
  • Fulham – Recent draws against Arsenal and Tottenham show that Chelsea coming up soon may not be as tough as many think. They also face Southampton and Bournemouth in their next period. No defender stands out more than full-back Antonee Robinson (£4.7m), he has registered four assists already this campaign. Emile Smith Rowe (£5.5m) could offer potential in attack but fellow midfielder Alex Iwobi (£5.7m) has been in better form recently. Striker Raul Jimenez (£5.5m) spearheads the attack.

Who else should we consider?

FPL Planning for Gameweeks 17-19
  • Brighton – West Ham, Brentford and Aston Villa could be great fixtures for Brighton to find some stability. If wanting a cheap goalkeeper then Bart Verbruggen (£4.5m) plays between the sticks. In defence, Lewis Dunk (£4.4m) could be the cheapest route in. But, full-back Pervis Estupinan (£5.1m) is their standout option for attacking threat. Kaoru Mitoma’s (£6.6m) recent form shows he is their best midfielder. Penalty taker Joao Pedro (£5.9m) and fellow striker Danny Welbeck (£5.8m) are two other great picks.
  • Bournemouth – Recent form against much stronger opposition suggests Bournemouth could do well against West Ham, Brentford and Aston Villa. In defence full-back Milos Kerkez (£4.6m) could have the most attacking threat. Penalty taker Justin Kluivert (£5.5m) could challenge fellow midfielder Antoine Semenyo (£5.7m) as their best attacking pick.
  • Liverpool – Sitting top of the league, Liverpool should always be a consideration. Maintaining some of the best assist related metrics in the league this season amongst defenders, Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7m) is the pick of the bunch at the back. Liverpool midfielder Mohamed Salah (£13.4m) remains their most effective and reliable attacker, whilst the others could be a rotation risk.

Should I use a chip?

For those managers who still hold the Wildcard chip, you have until Gameweek 19 to use it. With that in mind, it could be wise to use it for the fixture swings ahead.

In regards to the Free Hit, Triple Captain, and Bench Boost, waiting for Blank and Double Gameweeks to arrive could be a wise move. The most experienced FPL managers usually use their chips during those weeks.

The above also goes for the newly introduced assistant manager chip. However, both Liverpool’ Arsenal Mikel Arteta and Liverpool’ Arne Slot have potential in their next three games.
