Our FPL planning for Gameweek 5-7 can be extremely helpful to fantasy managers. Having a good idea of which teams to invest in and which players to buy could help you claim a successful start season. So, let’s dive in!
Gameweek 5-7 Fixtures
Below we can see the Fantasy Football Scout Fixture Ticker in difficulty order. The teams at the top have the easiest fixtures and the teams at the bottom have the toughest fixtures.
Who has the best fixtures?
Sitting top of the fixture ticker for the period ahead is Aston Villa. Unai Emery’s men face Wolves, Ipswich and Manchester United in the next matches which could mean both defensive and offensive potential.
Newly promoted side Ipswich sit just behind Aston Villa. The Tractor Boys clash with Southampton, Aston Villa and West Ham. This may be the case but they are yet to prove themselves in the Premier League which could make them an avoid in terms of investment.
Completing the top three is West Ham. They meet with fellow London based side Chelsea, then face Brentford and Ipswich. The Hammers could attract some attention but two losses out of three could be enough to put most off.
Also amongst the teams with the best fixtures in the next three Gameweeks are Chelsea, Everton and Liverpool. Many within the community may also consider Tottenham and Brentford for their period ahead.
Best Players to Buy
Aston Villa are evidently a team we should consider based on the above. In defence Ezri Konsa (£4.5m) remains the most reliable route into the defence for gametime. Left-back Lucas Digne (£4.5m) could also maintain his run of starts. He offers more attacking threat than his teammate based on his recent assist. Many will be hoping to bring in Ollie Watkins (£8.9m) after his incredible season last time out but teammate and midfielder Morgan Rogers (£5m) continues to catch the eye with his budget price-tag.
Chelsea are another side who hold plenty of appeal. The Blues have failed to keep a single clean sheet so far. But, for those expecting defensive improvements then goalkeeper Robert Sanchez (£4.5m) and centre-back/full-back Levi Colwill (£4.5m) could be solid choices. Most appeal will be directed towards the Chelsea frontline with midfielder and penalty taker Cole Palmer (£10.6m) the standout pick. Two goals and one assist in his first three matches suggests striker Nicolas Jackson (£7.6m) should also be considered. Midfielder Noni Madueke (£6.6m) continues to impress and could be an even cheaper route into the attack.
Bournemouth, Wolves and Crystal Palace lay ahead for Liverpool which makes them a good team to buy into. Many will be eyeing up Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7m) but a cheaper option is Andy Robertson (£6m). Robertson leads defenders for total crosses and total successful crosses so far this season. Mohamed Salah (£12.7m) continues his blistering form whilst fellow midfielder Diogo Jota (£7.6m) spearheads the attack. Another midfielder who has shown he can perform this season is Luis Diaz (£7.7m) after bagging a double-digit haul in both Gameweek 2 and 3.
Who else should we consider?
Tottenham are another side who have good fixtures. Although poor defensively last season a clean sheet against Everton recently could mean change. For those convinced of that then centre-back Cristian Romero’s (£4.5m) recent goal and attacking threat could be enough to pick him. Although, Pedro Porro (£5.5m) could be the standout based on his excellent offensive data. As well as penalty taker Son Heung-Min (£10m) fellow midfielder James Maddison (£7.5m) continues to impress after registering two assists so far. New signing and striker Dominic Solanke (£7.5m) could also become an exciting option as he returns from injury.
Brentford come up against Tottenham, West Ham and Wolves, three sides who have failed to convince defensively. With that in mind midfielder and penalty Bryan Mbeumo (£7.1m) could be the one to punish them. Alternatively those looking to add a forward to their frontline could opt for Yoane Wissa (£6.1m) who has scored two goals and created one assist this season so far.
Should I use a Chip?
The most experienced managers usually save their chips for Double Gameweeks. However, a rough start to the campaign and fixture swings in Gameweek 6 could favour using a Wildcard.
Learning more information and being patient with your chips could make them even more impactful further on in the season.
