The new season continues so in this article we take a look at some FPL planning for Gameweek 2-4. With the help of the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area we highlight the best teams to invest in, the best players to buy and if we should use a chip.
Our FPL planning for Gameweek 2-4 can be extremely helpful to fantasy managers. Having a good idea of which teams to invest in and which players to buy could help you claim a successful start season. So, let’s dive in!
Gameweek 2-4 Fixtures
Below we can see the Fantasy Football Scout Fixture Ticker in difficulty order. The teams at the top have the easiest fixtures and the teams at the bottom have the toughest fixtures.
Who has the best fixtures?
Top of the fixture ticker for the next three rounds is Fulham. The Cottagers may have fallen short against Manchester United in Gameweek 1 but they face Leicester, Ipswich and then West Ham in their rounds ahead.
Sitting second on the ticker is Manchester City. As well as an enticing fixture against Ipswich the 23/24 champions then have meetings with West Ham and Brentford immediately after.
After a tough clash with Manchester City in Gameweek 1 Chelsea’s schedule eases considerably. The Blues clash with Wolves, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth between Gameweek 2-4 which earned them top three on the ticker.
Completing the top six sides is Southampton, Wolves and Liverpool. Of the three it’s Liverpool who could be the most appealing for FPL managers.
Best Players to Buy
As mentioned Fulham’s fixtures suggest they could be a great side to invest in during the period ahead. Defensively full-back Antonee Robinson (£4.5m) stands out. He produced more attacking returns than any of his defensive teammates last season. In attack the most obvious pick is striker Rodrigo Muniz (£6m) but former Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith-Rowe (£5.5m) could also be a serious consideration.
Lots of managers will be flocking to Manchester City assets for the period ahead. Josko Gvardiol’s (£6m) attacking potential makes him the most exciting option in defence. As well as striker Erling Haaland (£15m) FPL managers could also opt for midfielder Phil Foden (£9.5m) who racked up 19 goals and eight assists last season.
Another top priority side when it comes to investment could be Chelsea. Although inconsistent defensively we could look to Robert Sanchez (£4.5m) between the sticks if looking for a goalkeeper. Most within the community could be targeting last seasons highest point scorer Cole Palmer (£10.5m). Although, a much cheaper route into the Chelsea frontline could be fellow midfielder Christopher Nkunku (£6.5m). Some may even be tempted by striker Nicolas Jackson (£7.5m) who produced four goals and one assist in his final five matches of last season.
Who else should we consider?
Liverpool still have some fantastic fixtures and so could remain a great team to buy into. A safe route into the defence is Trent Alexander Arnold (£7m) who could be one of the best defensive options in the game due to his attacking qualities. Penalty taker Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) remains their best attacking pick but fellow midfielder Diogo Jota (£7.5m) could also be a consideration after an impressive pre-season.
Another team we can’t avoid is Newcastle. There remains a lot of question marks around the Newcastle backline but Lewis Hall (£4.5m) who scored in pre-season could continue to play. Most of the Magpies appeal comes from their lethal frontline with striker and penalty taker Alexander Isak (£8.5m) remaining one of the best options in the game. It may also be worth considering midfielder Anthony Gordon (£7.5m) who impressed last season.
Crystal Palace play West Ham, Chelsea and Leicester in the weeks ahead. With this in mind the Eagles should also be shown some interest. Dean Henderson (£4.5m) remains one of the best budget goalkeepers in FPL based on how good his side were defensively last campaign. Penalty taker and talisman Eberechi Eze (£7m) could be one of the best midfielder picks for the period ahead if he remains at the club. Some may even consider new signing and midfielder Daichi Kamada (£5.5m) after an impressive pre-season.
Should I use a Chip?
The most experienced managers tend to use their chips deeper into the season. This is due to many factors including Blank Gameweeks, Double Gameweeks and team and player form.
Being patient with your chips generally means more success so holding onto them with the above in mind could be a wise move.
