FPL Planning for Gameweek 1-3

The new season is finally here so in this article we take a look at some FPL planning for Gameweek 1-3. With the help of the Fantasy Football Scout Members Area we highlight the best teams to invest in, the best players to start the season with and if we should use a chip.

Our FPL planning for Gameweek 1-3 can be extremely helpful to fantasy managers. Having a good idea of which teams to invest in and which players to buy could help you claim a successful start to the new season ahead.

Gameweek 1-3 Fixtures

Below we can see the Fantasy Football Scout Fixture Ticker in difficulty order. The teams at the top have the easiest fixtures and the teams at the bottom have the toughest fixtures.

Who has the best fixtures?

Nottingham Forest rank at the top of the fixture ticker so have better fixtures than any other side. They face newly promoted side Southampton, Bournemouth and Wolves in their opening matches.

Another side who have a strong starting schedule is Fulham. The Cottagers face an interesting match against Manchester United but then two fantastic fixtures against promoted sides Leicester and Ipswich.

Newcastle open up their 24/25 campaign against newly promoted Southampton which could offer potential both defensively and offensively. They then go onto fixtures against Bournemouth and then Tottenham.

Filling up the remainder of the top six is Liverpool, Bournemouth and Manchester City. All three face one questionable fixture and two easier matches.

Best Players to Buy

The early schedule suggests that Nottingham Forest could be a great team to invest in between Gameweek 1-3. The safest route into the defence could well be Murillo (£4.5m) who played more minutes than any other defender. Full-back Ola Aina (£4.5m) could offer more offensively. In attack it’s penalty taker Morgan Gibbs-White (£6.5m) who stands out but fellow midfielders Callum Hudson-Odoi (£5.5m) and Anthony Elanga (£5.5m) could be cheaper options into the frontline.

Fulham’s opening fixtures show investment could be rewarding. The best defensive asset is fullback Antonee Robinson (£4.5m) who produced six assists last campaign. Spearheading the attack is Rodrigo Muniz (£6m) who managed eight goals in an eight-match period last season. He could be a great third striker option.

Newcastle offer up lots of different options for the opening run. There are plenty of question marks around the Newcastle backline but one player who appears likely to keep starting is full-back Lewis Hall (£4.5m) who found the back of the net in pre-season. In attack penalty taker Alexander Isak (£8.5m) remains the standout option. Isak ended his 23/24 season on a high and bagged two goals and one assist in pre-season. Another brilliant option is midfielder Anthony Gordon (£7.5m) who hit double digits for both goals and assists last season.

Who else should we consider?

Liverpool’ early schedule is also very appealing. The Reds have both defensive and offensive potential and one player who could offer both is full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7m). Trent created more big chances than any other defender last season. Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) remains one of the best options in the game. The Egyptian penalty taker hit 28 attacking returns last season so maintains great consistency and his explosiveness also makes him a great captaincy option.

The current Premier League Champions Manchester City will also be one of the first teams we invest in. Josko Gvardiol (£6m) featured in an advanced left-wing role for the latter part of last season and there he managed three goals in his last five matches of the 23/24 campaign. In attack Erling Haaland (£15m) remains one of the best picks in the game. The Norwegian bagged five goals in just four pre-season matches so goes into the new campaign in top form. Midfielder Oscar Bobb (£5m) could gain some early momentum. Bobb has also impressed during pre-season – scoring two goals and creating three assists.

Should I use a Chip?

The most experienced managers tend to use their chips deeper into the season. This is due to many factors including Blank Gameweeks, Double Gameweeks and team and player form.

Being patient with your chips generally means more success so holding onto them with the above in mind could be a wise move.
