FPL Gameweek 8 Review
Gameweek 8 was perhaps my most successful single gameweek for FPL ever, with my team ranking 6,400 for the gameweek. There’s high hopes to continue this form with the Best FPL Team GW9.
Every single player delivered some sort of return to amass that total, other than Son Heung-Min: we can forgive him, as his effective ownership around us would have resulted in red arrows as he wasn’t trusted with the armband. Could now be the time to hop off Son given his drop off in form?
Best FPL Team GW9
With one free transfer available, replacing Son Heung-Min becomes top of the agenda for get the Best Team for Gameweek 9. The temptation is to move for Hakim Ziyech who has the form and the fixtures. Son’s underlying statistics have dropped off, as has the overall threat posed by Spurs as a team.
Ben Chilwell should overcome the back injury that kept him out of the England team over the International Break and there are options on the bench to cover him. Mo Salah will sit on the bench, with the hope that he is back for Gameweek 10. To cover issues, I’ve the funds to upgrade bench fodder Keenan Davis to a starting budget forward: Ollie Watkins, Patrick Bamford and Che Adams were in the frame, with Watkins fixtures giving him the priority.
Captain options in Gameweek 9 FPL are between Bruno Fernandes, Hakim Ziyech, Jack Grealish and Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Bruno Fernandes edges it given the fixture and his current form: he is more potent away from home but Manchester United are on an upwards trajectory and he carries a high ceiling given he’s on penalties too.
At the time of writing, the Gameweek 9 FPL team is ranked at 1,295,656 with 454 points. All chips are available. Team value lies at £100.4 million, with £0.8 million in the bank.
