Tuesday 24th May rumours
Telegraph: Spurs battling with Arsenal for Gabriel Jesus
Despite some late-season form, Man City and Gabriel Jesus are set to go their separate ways. With Erling Haaland signed up for next season, it appears that Arsenal aren’t the only north London side that wants the departing Brazilian.
FPL Comment: In recent months, managers had Dejan Kulusevski as a genuine option either alongside or instead of Harry Kane or Son Heung-min. If Gabriel Jesus does arrive, it probably makes Kulusevski a rotation threat for 2022/23.
Fabrizio Romano: Three Premier League clubs have approached Christian Eriksen
The football community has been delighted to see Christian Eriksen return to action following last summer’s horrific cardiac arrest. He has transformed Brentford and, with the short-term deal expiring, it seems Eriksen already has several English offers. And the Bees would love him to stay.
FPL Comment: When making his full Brentford debut in Gameweek 28, his new side suddenly switched from one point in eight matches to a streak of seven wins from the next ten. Eriksen’s one goal and four assists have been a heartwarming story and it’s fascinating to see where he goes next.
Chronicle: Renan Lodi interested in Newcastle’s ‘great project’
Matt Targett has quietly impressed during his six-month loan on Tyneside. Although it’s been assumed that his deal will be made permanent, reports continue to link the Magpies with an ambitious swoop for Atletico Madrid left-back Renan Lodi. It would be expected to cost over £40m.
FPL Comment: It would be harsh on Targett, who is already a fan favourite at Newcastle. But the chance to sign a genuinely top-class player will be hard to resist. Lodi is friends with Bruno Guimaraes and scored the winner against Man United in this season’s Champions League Round of 16.
