FPL Gossip 4th February: Mixed injury news, plus Klopp speaks on Salah and Mane availability
A look at the latest rumours and bits of gossip that are getting the FPL community talking.
Salah and Mane may still take part in Gameweek 24
Typically, the African Cup of Nations final pits Liverpool stars Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane against each other as Egypt take on Senegal. Sunday’s meeting is four days before Liverpool face Leicester in Gameweek 24 so, in theory, they have time to fly back, train and start the match. However, the winner will likely have a victory parade and well-earned celebrations, so it was assumed that Jurgen Klopp’s human side will take this into account. Also, Salah’s Egypt have played 120 minutes in all three knockout games so far. However, Klopp has this quote on Friday morning:
Calvert-Lewin knock rules him out of FA Cup match
A fractured toe has restricted Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin to only six league appearances this season and he could be hurt again, with new manager Frank Lampard confirming the striker picked up a knock against Aston Villa and won’t take part against Brentford in Saturday’s FA Cup meeting. FPL owners will surely be nervous about whether DCL will participate against Newcastle three days later.
Son Heung-min back in training
In better news, FPL star Son Heung-min is said to be back in training and will play in Spurs’ cup match against Brighton. A muscle injury suffered in early January ruled him out of Gameweeks 22 and 23 but the South Korean seems set to be back for home games against Southampton and Wolves, followed by Double Gameweek 26.
