FPL Gameweek 7 Top 5 Players to Buy on Deadline Day

Last modified date

The new round of Fantasy Premier League is here. For that reason we pick out the FPL Gameweek 7 top 5 players to buy on deadline day. To do this we consider several different factors including player form, statistics and fixture difficulty.

FPL Deadline days can be some of the most stressful and exciting times of the season. Because of that we clear out the noise and pick five players you should be considering in your team ahead of the new round. We’ll avoid players like Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland due to their already high ownership. So, lets dive in!

1. Bukayo Saka

Arsenal arguably have the best fixture this week. The Gooners come up against a struggling Southampton side who have lost all but one of their matches so far. Half of those games saw the Saints ship three goals, which highlights how poor they have been defensively so far this season.

Although failing to secure a return in his previous match against Leicester, Bukayo Saka (£10.1m) remains his sides standout attacker. Prior to that last match Saka bagged a return in every single one of his five matches, reflecting fantastic consistency.

2. Gabriel

The fixture against Southampton could also be a great opportunity to invest in the Arsenal defence. As well as keeping back-to-back clean sheets in the Champions League the Gooners have also kept three clean sheets from their first six Premier League matches.

With that in mind and the fact that Southampton rank as the worst side in the league for goals scored so far, we could look to Gabriel (£6.2m). The Brazilian offers both defensive and offensive potential, and his recent goals against Manchester City and Tottenham recently support the latter.

3. Bryan Mbeumo

Brentford are exactly pulling up any trees so far this season, but what they are doing is scoring goals. In fact, the Bees have netted a goal during the first minute of their last three league matches on the bounce.

They take that blistering early match form into a meeting with rock bottom Wolves this week. As well as producing poor results Wolves have also shipped two or more goals in all but one of their matches so far.

Helping his side score two of the three early goals mentioned above is Bryan Mbeumo (£7.4m). Mbeumo is in brilliant form going into the game – scoring an impressive five goals in his first six matches, the type of form that could really punish Wolves.

4. Antoine Semenyo

Bournemouth seem to struggle against stronger opposition. But, that certainly isn’t the case against the opposite, with the Cherries scoring against Southampton, Everton, and Nottingham Forest. They face a similar side this week as they face off with newly promoted Leicester.

The Foxes have failed to keep a single clean sheet this season, along with ranking the worst in the league for expected goals conceded so far. This is something Bournemouth talisman Antoine Semenyo (£5.7m) could take advantage of in current form. The Ghanian goes into his plum fixture off the back of producing a goal contribution in four of his first six games.

5. Ollie Watkins

Home is where the heart is for Aston Villa. Unai Emery’s men scored a huge 20 goals more at home than they did away last season. Home is where they play this week and they do so straight off the back of beating Bayern 1-0 at home in the Champions League during midweek.

Confidence will be high going into to the game but they opposite could be said for their upcoming opposition, Manchester United. The Reds seems to be capitulating defensively so completing the top 5 players to buy on deadline day is Ollie Watkins (£9.1m) who will be keen on exploiting that. After blanking in Gameweek 1 and 2 the striker bagged at least one goal contribution in the four rounds following that, so appears to be in wonderful form.
