FPL Gameweek 5 Top 5 Players to Buy on Deadline Day

Last modified date

The new round of Fantasy Premier League is here. For that reason we pick out the FPL Gameweek 5 top 5 players to buy on deadline day. To do this we consider several different factors including player form, statistics and fixture difficulty.

FPL Deadline days can be some of the most stressful and exciting times of the season. Because of that we clear out the noise and pick five players you should be considering in your team ahead of the new round. We’ll avoid players like Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland due to their already high ownership. So, lets dive in!

Ollie Watkins

With all of the striker problems FPL managers seems to be having this week Ollie Watkins (£8.9m) could be an ideal replacement if you can afford him.

Aston Villa have been in fine form since the start of the season, with their only loss coming against likely title challengers Arsenal. As well as winning all three of their other PL matches they also scored 2+ in them.

Wolves are up next for Aston Villa who face them at home. Whilst failing to win any of their matches so far Wolves have also shipped a huge 11 goals. Watkins goes into the game off the back of a 13-point haul in his recent match against Everton so could take advantage of that.

Jamie Vardy

Whilst some can afford the jump up to Ollie Watkins in terms of budget, others can not. But, there are plenty of budget options to pick from this week and Jamie Vardy (£5.7m) is one of them.

Short of wins Leicester have won two and drawn two of their first four matches. One positive to take from their start however is the fact that they have netted in all of them.

Vardy spearheads the Leicester frontline going into a meeting with Everton who have conceded between 2-4 goals in each of their first four games. Main man Vardy also take his sides penalties which is another huge appeal of his.

Bryan Mbeumo

Fixture difficulty appears to be increasing for several sides now. With that and needing budget to use on the forward line Bryan Mbeumo (£7.1m) could be a brilliant addition.

Although losing to Liverpool Brentford impressed in both their loss to Manchester City and their wins against Southampton and Crystal Palace.

With three goals to his name already the Brentford penalty taker has another opportunity to add to his tally this week against a ropey Tottenham defence. He also has excellent long-term fixtures after that as well.

Liam Delap

There are plenty of striker options up for grabs this week and if there was a week to sign one then it’s this one. With that in mind FPL managers could also consider Ipswich frontman Liam Delap (£5.5m).

Ipswich sit near the top of the Fantasy Football Scout Fixture Ticker in the next several Gameweeks and that alone makes them interesting. Their first fixture of that lovely looking run is fellow newly promoted side Southampton who have lost all of their matches so far this season.

It could be a great opportunity for Ipswich to pick up their first three points of the new season and Delap goes into the fixture after producing the joint third most attempts on goal in Gameweek 4.

Morgan Rogers

Completing our FPL Gameweek 5 Top 5 players to buy on deadline day is Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers (£5.1m). Many FPL managers have become frustrated with him recently. However, he remains one of the cheapest playing attackers in the game.

With managers constantly looking for budget Rogers could be the player to enable funds elsewhere. His side also have some brilliant long-term fixtures so bringing him in could solve several different issues within your team.
