FPL Gameweek 5 Best Wildcard Team
The fifth round of Fantasy Premier League is approaching so we take a look at the FPL Gameweek 5 best wildcard team. To do this we use the Fantasy Football Scout members area and Plan FPL and their fantastic tools.
Checking out our best Wildcard team each week can be extremely helpful. The Wildcard is one of several chips provided by the game. Wildcard users can make unlimited and permanent changes to their team before the deadline ahead.

Below we can see the Fantasy Football Scout Fixture Ticker. We can also see the teams at the top have the easiest fixtures and the teams at the bottom have the toughest fixtures for the next six Gameweeks.
Who has the best fixtures?
Everton, Ipswich, Nottingham Forest, Aston Villa and West Ham all rank amongst the top five teams with the easiest fixtures.
Who has the worst fixtures?
Bournemouth, Newcastle, Brighton, Wolves and Arsenal all rank amongst the bottom five teams with the worst fixtures.
Best Wildcard Team
Goalkeepers
Rotating both Chelsea’s Robert Sanchez (£4.5m) and Mark Flekken (£4.5m) could be beneficial. Both goalkeepers have schedules that rotate well around each other.
Defenders
Arsenal have some fantastic upcoming fixtures. And, whilst it’s tempting to include Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7m) against Bournemouth his fixtures eventually become much tougher. With this in mind and his recent goal Gabriel (£6m) is a wise addition to the team.
Aston Villa have a great schedule so buying into their defence makes sense. The cheapest and most reliable route into the backline is Ezri Konsa (£4.5m).
Another nicely priced defensive asset is Antonee Robinson (£4.6m). Although short of clean sheets the American registered an assist in both Gameweek 2 and Gameweek 3 which shows he has attacking potential.
With a good schedule and topping every other defender for total attempts on goals Pedro Porro (£5.5m) remains a very good option. Porro doesn’t face one tough fixture in his next six matches according to the fixture ticker.
Enabling funds elsewhere and unlikely to feature is Jacob Greaves (£4m). Greaves recently helped his side to a clean sheet against a tough Brighton side and has great fixtures ahead.
Midfielders
Chelsea have good short term fixtures and they appear to be in good scoring form. Talisman and penalty taker Cole Palmer (£10.6m) is their best option after bagging four assists and one goal in his first four games. Palmer could eventually be downgraded to help fund a move for Erling Haaland before Gameweek 7 or 8.
Although disappointing so far Morgan Rogers (£5m) continues to get into some fantastic positions. Rogers has some lovely fixtures coming up and helps to enable budget elsewhere.
Liverpool continue to dominate key attacking metrics and have two plum fixtures ahead. Talisman and penalty taker Mohamed Salah (£12.7m) has been in fine form this season and could well be the standout captaincy option for the next two Gameweeks. Some may decide that when the Liverpool fixtures get tougher Salah could also fund a move to bring Erling Haaland into the squad.
Brentford continue to impress this season and after losing main man Ivan Toney it could mean we see more of a talismanic role from Bryan Mbeumo (£7m). As well as taking penalties Mbeumo has already produced three goals in his first four matches.
Three fantastic fixtures coming up means that Arsenal could be top shopping lists in the coming weeks. With that in mind penalty taker Bukayo Saka (£10m) should be a shoo-in. Saka has returned in every single match this season so excluding him could be difficult.
Forwards
Ollie Watkins (£8.9m) seems to be finding his feet again after scoring twice against Everton in Gameweek 4. He has some great fixtures ahead for owners to benefit from. With the need of Erling Haaland looming for Gameweek 7 or 8 Watkins could be man to exit the squad in the near future.
It could be a great time to invest in budget strikers. One of those options could be Brighton penalty taker Joao Pedro (£5.7m). He is joined by Everton penalty taker Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£5.9m) who has managed two goals and an assist in his last two matches.
