Goalkeepers
Aston Villa have one of the best fixtures on paper this week up against Sunderland. Whilst they are yet to score they have managed two clean sheets, so it could be a good opportunity to bank a third clean sheet with the help of Emi Martinez (£5m).
Martin Dubravka (£4m) helps enable money elsewhere, whilst sitting on the bench.
Defenders
Crystal Palace have produced three clean sheets in just four matches and face West Ham ahead. This is a good indication for Daniel Munoz (£5.6m) potential who ranks among the top three defenders for non penalty expected goal involvement.
Another side with three clean sheets already is Tottenham. Thomas Frank seems to have solidified what was a ropey defence, so even in a tricky clash versus Brighton, they could keep things tight. One of their cheaper options is centre-back Mickey van de Ven (£4.6m) who scored in his previous match.
There is no telling how Ange Postecoglu’ appointment will affect the Nottingham Forest defence, but they do face Burnley who have failed to convince offensively. Neco Williams (£5m) is one of the cheapest routes into the backline.
First on the bench, is Fulham’ Joachim Andersen (£4.5m). The Fulham, centre-back has a proven to be excellent value for money this season – hitting the defensive contributions threshold three times already. He has a nice home match against Brentford next, so could be a solid option off the bench.
Sunderland’ Reinildo (£4m) helps to enable expensive options in the side.
Midfielders
It could be difficult to ignore Cole Palmer (£10.4m) this week. Chelsea dominate among all teams for underlying attacking data, and they come up against a poor Manchester United defence in the upcoming match.
Mohamed Salah (£14.5m) is yet to convince this season – even after returning three times in his first four games. However, the Egyptian faces local rivals Everton this week, which could see him recapture his explosive form from last season.
Burnley impressed at home against Liverpool in Gameweek 4, but that type of form may not be sustainable. Ange Postecoglu has had a little more time to instil his attacking ethos and one player who could benefit from that is Dan Ndoye (£6.1m) who has scored and assisted this season already.
It could be difficult to ignore the in-form Antoine Semenyo (£7.5m), even against Newcastle. The Ghanian has produced a huge three goals and two assists already this season, and a match at home could see him add to that.
On the bench and unlikely to feature for us is Fulham attacker Josh King (£4.5m).
Forwards
There are plenty of great forward picks this week, and one of them is Jean Phillipe Mateta (£7.6m). His Crystal Palace side come up against a West Ham who have conceded 11 goals already this campaign.
Another player who has bags of potential this week is Chris Wood (£7.6m). Leading the Nottingham Forest attack, Wood faces Burnley next who shipped seven goals in their first four games.
Aston Villa have failed to convince from an attacking perspective – yet to score a single goal during their first four games. Their offensive success could well change this week as they face newly promoted Sunderland in Gameweek 5. Because of this, Ollie Watkins (£8.9m) makes the cut.
