FPL managers can base their decisions on factors like team and player form, chips, captaincy and even ownership. However, sometimes a player can be very effective against specific teams. So, checking out which players have good records against upcoming opposition in FPL Gameweek 30 could be hugely beneficial.
Cole Palmer v Burnley
Most of the time we look back years when digging into head-to-head data. However, we didn’t have to look too far back for our first pick.
Chelsea have a lovely fixture against newly promoted side Burnley next up which could be a great opportunity for their attackers.
One player who has been particularly good against promoted sides this campaign is Cole Palmer. As we can see, in the three matches he faced them Palmer managed a huge four goals and three assists.
Interestingly, the last time Palmer played Burnley he picked up 12 points for his goal, assist and two bonus.
Son Heung-Min v Luton
Tottenham will be hoping to bounce back after their heavy loss to Fulham in Gameweek 29. Luton lay ahead who rank as one of the worst defensive sides in the league this season, leaving plenty of potential for the Spurs frontline.
With the above in mind, we decided to take a look into Son Heung-Min’ fantastic record against promoted sides. As we can see in the 16 matches he played against them between 2019-2021 he racked up 12 goals and four assists.
James Maddison v Luton
It could be a big week for Tottenham this week against Luton. The Hatters aren’t just poor but they have shipped 14 goals in their last six league matches.
Another player who has regularly had success against promoted sides is James Maddison. In 2021 Maddison returned in every match against them, three of those returns being double-digit hauls.
Maddison has also had success against promoted sides this season too – returning in two out of three of his games.
Erling Haaland v Arsenal
Many within the fantasy football community will be hoping to avoid the epic clash between Manchester City and Arsenal this week. Both are in the midst of an intense title battle and Arsenal have maintained a better defence than any other side in the league this season.
Although the above may be off-putting, Erling Haaland was fantastic against Arsenal last season. In fact, in the two matches he played against them the Norwegian hit two goals and two assists, helping him to reach 20 FPL points.
