FPL Gameweek 3 Best Wildcard Team

The third round of Fantasy Premier League is approaching so we take a look at the FPL Gameweek 3 best wildcard team. To do this we use the Fantasy Football Scout members area and Plan FPL and their fantastic tools.

Checking out our best Wildcard team each week can be extremely helpful. The Wildcard is one of several chips provided by the game. Wildcard users can make unlimited and permanent changes to their team before the deadline ahead.

Fixtures

Below we can see the Fantasy Football Scout Fixture Ticker. We can also see the teams at the top have the easiest fixtures and the teams at the bottom have the toughest fixtures for the next six Gameweeks.

Who has the best fixtures?

Aston Villa, Ipswich, Everton, Liverpool, Southampton and Chelsea all rank amongst the top six teams with the easiest fixtures.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Brighton, Wolves, Tottenham, Bournemouth, Brentford and Manchester City all rank amongst the bottom six teams with the toughest fixtures.

Best Wildcard Team

Goalkeepers

Goalkeepers continue to disappoint so rotating Chelsea’s Robert Sanchez (£4.5m) and Mark Flekken (£4.5m) remains a solid plan. The Chelsea and Brentford fixtures rotate extremely well with each other which could increase the odds of bringing in clean sheets.

Defenders

Arsenal have mixed fixtures in the next three then three fantastic ones. Most of their appeal comes from the fact they picked up from where they left off last season defensively – keeping two clean sheets in their first two. So, centre-back Gabriel (£6m) could be a great option, especially when considering his attacking threat last campaign.

Liverpool still rank highly on the fixture ticker and two clean sheets in two matches so far makes them a safe bet moving forward. Their standout defensive asset is Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7m) who has the most attacking potential amongst his defensive teammates.

Fulham are another team with good fixtures. The Cottagers kept the joint third most clean sheets last season so bringing in Antonee Robinson (£4.6m) could be beneficial. Robinson picked up an assist in Gameweek 2 showing some of his attacking potential.

No side has easier fixtures than Aston Villa in the next six Gameweeks so investing could be key. Their cheapest and most reliable defender is Ezri Konsa (£4.5m).

Completing the defence is Jacob Greaves (£4m). The Ipswich defender comes in nice and cheap, has headed threat and starts every match for his side.

Midfielders

Liverpool have brilliant fixtures from an attacking perspective but they also maintained some of the best underlying offensive metrics in the league last season. Mohamed Salah (£12.5m) is a fantastic long-term captaincy option on current form and teammate Diogo Jota (£7.6m) continues to lead the frontline and lead it successfully – bagging a return in each of his first two games.

Gaining more and more traction every week is Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers (£5m). Rogers continues to both impress and start for his side who have an excellent set of fixtures in the coming weeks.

Another player who comes in nice cheap is Fulham midfielder Emile Smith Rowe (£5.6m). The former Arsenal man has settled in nicely since joining and topped off his first two performances with a goal in the second round.

Chelsea have great fixtures ahead which could give star man and penalty taker Cole Palmer (10.5m) the opportunity to add to his three assists and goal this season. Palmer could even be a place holder for Bukayo Saka (£10m) when his fixtures ease in Gameweek 6.

Forwards

The absence of Erling Haaland (£15m) is a big one but with alternative captaincy options and positive fixture swings elsewhere his exclusion may be a rewarding one.

One player we have to consider based on the fixtures is last seasons highest scoring forward Ollie Watkins (£9m). Watkins may have started the season slower than he would like in terms of output but he has the schedule ahead to put that behind him.

Newcastle striker Alexander Isak (£8.5m) could be worth holding onto. Isak faces one tough fixture in his run ahead which could give him the potential to find his explosive 23/24 form again. Leading a Newcastle attack which produced more big chances than any other side last season is enough to keep the faith in him.

Enabling the rest of the team is Southampton penalty taker Adam Armstrong (£5.5m). Although yet to settle in the top tier Armstrong has everything he needs to become a good eighth attacker if needed. Some may also consider Brighton man Joao Pedro (£5.5m) who scored in Gameweek 2.
