Goalkeepers
Newcastle proved their defensive capabilities in Gameweek 1 – keeping a clean sheet against Aston Villa away from home. This week is an even better chance to keep a shutout as they face newly promoted Leeds. Because of this and their lack of convincing defender picks, Nick Pope (£5m) could be a great option.
On the bench is Brentford’ Caoimhín Kelleher (£4.5m) who meets with newly promoted Sunderland.
Defenders
Tottenham’ excellent defensive form and home fixture against Bournemouth makes their backline a shoo-in this week. Offering multiple routes to points is Pedro Porro (£5.5m) who has clean sheet, attacking and defcon potential.
Manchester United have a fantastic opening for a clean sheet this week. The Reds come up against Burnley, which could see success for defenders like flying full-back Patrick Dorgu (£4.5m).
Completing the backline is Murillo (£5.5m). Nottingham Forest are yet to keep a clean sheet, but they come up against and a poor West Ham side this week. The Hammers failed to score against newly promoted Sunderland in Gameweek 1, so Murillo could well register his first return of the season.
On the bench offering depth is Chelsea’ Tosin (£4.5m) and Sheffield United’ Reinildo (£4m).
Midfielders
Manchester United’ match against Burnley could mean plenty of potential for the attackers. Picking one of them could be tough, so opting for two may make things a little easier. Bruno Fernandes (£9m) may have started the season poorly, but that doesn’t mean he can’t punish a poor defence. The same goes for former Brentford man and corner taker Bryan Mbeumo (£8m).
Tottenham have already already notched up six goals this season. This week that in-form attack comes up against Bournemouth who have lost several key members in defence. One player who has already settled is Ghanian star Mohammed Kudus (£6.6m).
After conceding five goals against Arsenal in the previous round, Leeds have painted at a target on their backs from an attacking perspective. Newcastle should have joy against their ropey backline and penalty taker Anthony Gordon (£7.5m) appears to be their best attacking option.
Sitting on the bench and ready to come on, is Brentford’ Ouattara Dango (£6m). As well as scoring in his latest match, the former Bournemouth man meets with newly promoted Sunderland who shipped two goals to Burnley last week.
Forwards
Brighton’ 2-0 loss to Everton was concerning for them, but a clear indication they are not where they want to be from a defensive perspective. Combined with his Gameweek 1 brace and Erling Haaland (£14.1m) could be the standout captaincy option this week.
The striker options look great going into Gameweek 3, and another of them is Chris Wood (£7.6m). The Nottingham Forest penalty taker has also banked a brace already this season, and he takes that form into a meeting with West Ham who have conceded eight goals already.
Chelsea have a decent home fixture against Fulham, which could mean attacking potential for their offensive assets. Man of the moment Joao Pedro (£7.5m) hit 15 points for his goal and two assists in the previous round.
