FPL Gameweek 29 Top 5 Best Players to Buy on Deadline Day

The new round of Fantasy Premier League is here. For that reason we pick out the FPL Gameweek 29 top 5 players to buy on deadline day. To do this we consider several different factors including player form, statistics and fixture difficulty.

FPL Deadline days can be some of the most stressful and exciting times of the season. Because of that we clear out the noise and pick five players you should be considering in your team ahead of the new round. We’ll avoid players like Mohamed Salah, Cole Palmer and Alexander Isak due to their already high ownership. So, lets dive in.

1. Chris Wood

Nottingham Forest could become the most popular side to invest in this week. As well as going into the round sitting third in the table due to fantastic form, they also come up against Ipswich, who rank third worst for total goals conceded and second worst for total big chance conceded.

To target that poor Ipswich backline, one man stands out, penalty taker Chris Wood (£7.3m). Although doubts were placed over his consistency after a fast start, Wood has quickly become one of the most reliable assets in the game – having racked up a huge 18 goals already. Wood isn’t just a great option this week, some could even consider him as a very viable captaincy pick.

2. Justin Kluivert

There are plenty of great players to buy this week, and Bournemouth house another one. Recent big wins against Nottingham Forest and Newcastle reflect the high-flying season they have been having. This week the Cherries have another good opportunity to pick up impressive result.

Whilst offensively impressive, Brentford rank among the three worst sides for total shots on target and total shots in the box conceded. With that in mind, and his penalty taking duty, talisman Justin Kluivert (£6.1m) could have big potential. The Dutchman has been excellent this campaign, and more recently hit a huge nine returns in his last seven games.

3. Bruno Fernandes

Manchester United are another side with a great fixture this week. Ruben Amorim’ men come up against Leicester next, who lost a huge nine of their 10 matches. During that period they also conceded at least two goals in eight different matches.

Leicester aren’t just conceding goals, they also rank among the worst three sides for most defensive metrics. One player who could take advantage of that is penalty taker Bruno Fernandes (€8.4m). Fernandes is in fantastic form currently, and goes into the game off the back of netting an impressive five goals in his last four matches.

4. Erling Haaland

As disappointing as they have been this season, Manchester City still rank among the top three sides for goals scored, which shows they are still a major goal threat. Manchester City face Brighton this week, but they also face them at home, which could give them an advantage.

Whilst many of the Manchester City attacking assets have been well below par this campaign, striker and penalty taker Erling Haaland (£14.7m) has still racked up 20 goals and three assists. The Norwegian has also been in good form recently – bagging four goals and two assists in just his previous six matches. Some may even consider Haaland to be a standout captaincy pick.

5. Rayan Ait-Nouri

No side has a better match on paper than Wolves this week. Southampton lie ahead, who have been woeful this campaign. As well as ranking bottom for multiple underlying defensive metrics, they also rank the worst for most attacking data points.

The Saints are clearly a team to target and that’s where attacking defender Rayan Ait-Nouri (£4.8m) comes into play. The Algerian can pick up points via both clean sheets and attacking returns. In fact, with a focus on the latter, he sits joint second best among defenders for total attacking returns this season.
