FPL Gameweek 26 so far

An overview of the FPL Gameweek so far from the current round of top-flight action.

GAMEWEEK 26

There were eight Premier League matches on Saturday, with a further two more taking place on Sunday. Sunday’s matches will see Leeds host Man United, as well as Wolves welcoming Leicester to Molineux.

SATURDAY

West Ham 1-1 Newcastle

GOALS DawsonWillock
ASSISTS Cresswell
BONUS Cresswell (2), Dawson (1)Willock (3)
TOP SCORERS Dawson (9), Cresswell (7)Willock (10)
No Vladimir Coufal, whilst Jarrod Bowen was booked late on.No Allan Saint-Maximin for Newcastle due to injury.

Defenders Creswell and Dawson were the heroes for West Ham on Saturday. Dawson’s goal would have delighted the 0.9% of FPL managers who own him. Cresswell is a more popular pick at 7.5% owned, returned his managers an assist.

Saint-Maximin is Newcastle’s more popular FPL asset, he is owned by 16.6% of the game. However, Saint-Maximin missed Saturday’s match with a knock. His FPL managers will be hoping he’ll be back for Gameweek 27 and their later Double Gameweeks.

Arsenal 2-1 Brentford

GOALS Smith Rowe, SakaNorgaard
ASSISTS Lacazette, ParteyAjer
BONUS Saka (3), Smith Rowe (3)Ajer (1)
TOP SCORERS Smith Rowe (11), Saka (10)Norgaard (7)
There was no Ivan Toney.

Arsenal’s Saka was a popular transfer in ahead of Gameweek 26 and he returned a goal for the 21.4% of FPL managers who own him. Lacazette was also a key talking point in the community ahead of the deadline and he registered an assist for his managers.

Meanwhile a late consolation goal was upsetting for managers invested in the Arsenal defence. It was especially frustrating for those managers who had double upped on the Gunners defence.

Aston Villa 0-1 Watford

GOALS Dennis
ASSISTS Sarr
BONUS Dennis (3), Cathcart (2), Foster (1), Sarr (1), Samir (1)
TOP SCORERS Dennis (9), Cathcart (8), Foster (7), Samir (7), Sarr (6), Femenia (6)
Ollie Watkins came off the bench.

The benching for Ollie Watkins will give his owners an FPL headache. Many kept hold of the Villa forward as they were expected to win this weekend. However, it was popular FPL asset Dennis who took the spoils for his managers. Dennis’s nine points will have thrilled the 36.1% of managers who own him.

Brighton 0-3 Burnley

GOALS Weghorst, Brownhill, Lennon
ASSISTS Roberts, Weghorst, Rodriguez
BONUS Weghorst (3), Brownhill (2), Pieters (1), Pope (1), Lennon (1)
TOP SCORERS Weghorst (12), Brownhill (9), Lennon (8), Roberts (8), Pope (7), Pieters (7), Mee (6), Collins (6)
Leandro Trossard made a brief appearance.

It was a weekend of difficult benching for FPL managers and Trossard was another one who appeared for just the one point. Weghorst however stole the limelight in this one returning 12 points from a goal and an assist for the managers who invested in him.

Crystal Palace 0-1 Chelsea

GOALS Ziyech
ASSISTS Alonso
BONUS Ziyech (3), Thiago Silva (2), Christensen (1)
TOP SCORERS Ziyech (11), Thiago Silva (8), Christensen (7), Rudiger (6), Mendy (6)
Neither Odsonne Edouard nor Christian Benteke featured. No Alonso clean sheet because he started on the bench.

Chelsea returned to winning ways in their first Premier League match since returning from the Club World Cup. With Chelsea blanking again next weekend as a result of playing in the League Cup final they were lowly owned this weekend. Ziyech however was impressive for the blues and is one to watch after the final.

Liverpool 3-1 Norwich

GOALS Mane, Salah, DiazRashica
ASSISTS Tsimikas, Alisson, HendersonSargent
BONUS Salah (3), Diaz (2), Henderson (1)
TOP SCORERS Salah (10), Diaz (9), Mane (7), Henderson (6)Rashica (7)
Andrew Robertson was an unused sub, with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Roberto Firmino not in the squad.

Mo Salah brought a smile to the faces of the FPL managers who Triple Captained him with his goal and 10 point haul. However, Andy Robertson was on the bench for the whole match, whilst Alexander-Arnold and Firmino weren’t in the squad.

Southampton 2-0 Everton

GOALS Armstrong, Long
ASSISTS Adams, Livramento
BONUS Livramento (3), Armstrong (2), Ward-Prowse (1)
TOP SCORERS Livramento (12), Armstrong (10), Forster (6), Walker-Peters (6), Bednarek (6), Salisu (6)
Booking for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Livramento was once a favourite of FPL managers, however he had been mass sold over the last few weeks. A lack of a Double Gameweek also meant that if Livramanto was in managers squads he was likely on their bench.

Broja has bee a popular pick in the FPL community, however it was teammates Armstrong and Adams who really impressed. Owners of Everton assets including Dominic Calvert-Lewin yet again were left empty handed.

Man City 2-3 Tottenham

GOALS Gundogan, Mahrez penaltyKulusevski, Kane, Kane
ASSISTS BernardoSon, Son, Kulusevski
BONUS Kane (3), Son (2), Kulusevski (1)
TOP SCORERS Gundogan (7), Mahrez (6)Kane (13), Kulusevski (11), Son (10)

Spurs gave Manchester City an early shock when Son laid the ball on for Kulusevski. This was the first time this season that both Kane and Son had returned double digit hauls in the same game.

With Reguilon tweeting that he has Covid FPL managers are not expecting him to be available for Spurs’ second game this week.

The eight matches brought 21 goals and four clean sheets.
