Notes
- My decision to not invest heavily in Liverpool and Manchester City assets for DGW25 ultimately paid off. I scored 105 points and recorded another green arrow up to an OR of ~45k.
- I’m set up for GW26 and the run of games up to GW29. I have 10 players with a game in GW26. I plan to use one of my two free transfers on one of my blanking Liverpool players to field a full starting XI.
- Pervis Estupiñan is a concern. I may end up using my second free transfer if it looks like he’s likely to be benched again. This isn’t a huge problem as he will be transferred out before GW29 anyway. But, I would prefer not to spend too many free transfers until we have a full picture of the blank fixtures that week.
- My transfer in this week will most likely be Leon Bailey for Diogo Jota. Bailey looks to have cemented his place in the starting XI and arguably has a higher ceiling than Douglas Luiz. Luiz has penalties in his favour and would be my other Aston Villa midfielder of choice.
- I understand the appeal of players like Hwang Hee-Chan and Pedro Neto given they play Sheffield United this week. However, Aston Villa are guaranteed to play in GW29 and Wolves are likely to blank. Also bringing in a Wolves player this week would cost me an additional -4 further down the line.
- I will therefore be lining up with Alphonse Areola in goal and Estupiñan, Gabriel, William Saliba and Charlie Taylor across the back. Estupiñan will make way for an Aston Villa defender – probably Pau Torres – if Roberto De Zerbi indicates he is unlikely to start.
- My midfielders will be Bailey, Phil Foden and Bukayo Saka. The Arsenal midfielder has picked up 49 points in just four gameweeks. He will also likely be my vice captain for GW26.
- There are no changes to my forwards. Erling Haaland, Dominic Solanke and Ollie Watkins once again lead the line.
- Haaland will take the captaincy for Manchester City’s plum away fixture against Bournemouth.
