FPL Gameweek 25 Best Free Hit Team

Last modified date

As we approach Gameweek 25 of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season, let’s try to build its best Free Hit team. To do this, we’re using the fantastic organisational tool of PlanFPL.

One of several chips provided by the game, the Free Hit is an opportunity to select a squad for one Gameweek only. Afterwards, it’s back to your original, regular team.

For FPL managers, it’s an extremely useful weapon.

Fixtures

Below is Fantasy Football Scout’s ranking of Gameweek 25 fixture difficulty.

Who has the best fixtures?

Immediate attention is drawn to the two fixtures facing Liverpool and Aston Villa. Before meeting each other, they’re at home to sides currently in the bottom four. Free Hit users will want to maximise their coverage by choosing three players from both teams.

Of those appearing once, in-form Bournemouth make the short trip to Southampton, whereas Arsenal are against Leicester. The Foxes have lost eight of their last nine league encounters.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Squads heavy on Newcastle assets won’t like their prospects away at Man City. Although the champions lost their air of invincibility with that horrific November and December, the Magpies probably wish this match had taken place earlier.

Alexander Isak (£9.5m) is still worth starting, though it’s not yet time for Wolves’ Matheus Cunha (£6.8m). And Joao Pedro (£5.5m) is becoming tougher to justify with each passing week.

Best Gameweek 25 Free Hit

Using the PlanFPL website, here is the best Free Hit team:

Goalkeepers

Should he emerge ok from Wednesday’s Merseyside derby, Alisson Becker (£5.5m) is recommended for those not liking the possible rotation of Liverpool’s forwards. He has three clean sheets from the last six league matches.

Defenders

Ahead of him, the knock to Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.4m) turns attention to Virgil van Dijk (£6.4m). Nailed for minutes, he reminded FPL managers of his attacking prowess by scoring in last week’s EFL Cup semi-final second leg.

Aston Villa’s deadline day arrival Axel Disasi (£4.2m) could be forced straight into the starting XI thanks to their defensive injury problems worsening on Sunday. The loanee is very cheap and therefore very appealing.

Managers who own multiple members of Arsenal’s backline should be content with this trip to Leicester. Free Hits need at least one, like set-piece threat Gabriel Magalhaes (£6.3m).

As back-up, Dean Huijsen (£4.4m) is fixture-based and Daniel Munoz (£4.8m) has delivered at least one return in four successive matches.

Midfielders

Meanwhile, for obvious reasons, Mohamed Salah (£13.7m) should be handed captain’s armbands and possibly even a Triple Captain activation, if no other chips are in usage.

Recent Cole Palmer (£11.2m) returns have slowed down, leading to two price drops. But it’s worth remembering that he scored four goals in September’s reverse meeting with Brighton.

Morgan Rogers (£5.6m) plays twice, though owners may be frustrated to see him keep scoring in other competitions. A Champions League hat-trick, alongside the FA Cup’s goal plus assist.

Rounding off this 3-5-2 midfield is a Bournemouth double-up. Penalty-taking Justin Kluivert (£5.9m) has a whopping 45 points from his last four matches, while it was Dango Ouattara‘s (£5.1m) turn to net three times in Gameweek 23. He’s playing up front, out-of-position.

Forwards

Ollie Watkins (£8.9m) is currently a slight doubt after coming off early in Gameweek 24, so finalising his inclusion will have to wait until Unai Emery’s pre-deadline press conference.

A rumoured Arsenal bid went no further for the England forward and its failure to develop makes Kai Havertz (£7.8m) one of the transfer window’s biggest winners. Perhaps he was already a secure starter but the Gabriel Jesus (£6.6m) injury plus lack of replacement boosts his FPL prospects. The 25-year-old bagged a goal and assist in the Gunners’ 5-1 thrashing of Man City.
