FPL Gameweek 24 Top 5 Best Players to Buy on Deadline Day
The new round of Fantasy Premier League is here. For that reason we pick out the FPL Gameweek 24 top 5 players to buy on deadline day. To do this we consider several different factors including player form, statistics and fixture difficulty.
FPL Deadline days can be some of the most stressful and exciting times of the season. Because of that we clear out the noise and pick five players you should be considering in your team ahead of the new round. We’ll avoid players like Mohamed Salah, Cole Palmer and Alexander Isak due to their already high ownership. So, lets dive in.
1. Trent Alexander-Arnold
This week, Liverpool have a double Gameweek. As well as sitting top of the league, they also play twice, which is enough to make them the most appealing side to invest in this week. And, with the joint most clean sheets this season, the Liverpool backline should be popular.
The standout defensive option at Liverpool is of course Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.3m). The Liverpool full-back has been excellent offensively, especially when it comes to his underlying data – ranking above every other defender for non-penalty expected goal involved, total chances created and total big chances created.
2. Cody Gakpo
Liverpool’ double looks tough on paper. Bournemouth have proven they can be a very good side, whilst Everton’ recent upturn in form, could arguably be down to ‘new manager bounce’. However, the Reds have shown they can beat good sides all season, and it’s something they have done numerous times.
Offensively, Liverpool rank top for goals scored, total shots in the box, total big chances and top for several other underlying metrics. So, with a double ahead, their attack should be a primary target for FPL managers. After Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo (£7.6m) appears to be the next best option, and the Dutchman’ 16-point haul in Gameweek 23 is an example of why that’s the case.
3. Luis Diaz
Selecting a second Liverpool attacker could be crucial this week. Not only is Mohamed Salah the highest owned player in the game currently, which makes benefitting from his points difficult, but he also goes into the round as a standout captain and triple captain pick.
With the above in mind, and for those searching for a midfielder to switch to, Luis Diaz (£7.5m) could dominate FPL managers thinking. As well as being rested for his sides recent Champions League clash, the Colombian has also started Liverpool’ previous five league games, making him safer for minutes than many may think.
4. Ibrahima Konate
Two fixtures could hold plenty of defensive potential for Liverpool this week. Whilst Bournemouth rank eighth best for total goals scored this season, only Southampton have scored less goals than Everton. But, not everyone can afford Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The cheapest route into the Liverpool backline is centre-back Ibrahima Konate (£5.2m). The Frenchman could well start both matches this week, especially when considering that he missed out on the midweek Champions League outing against PSV. He also produced an assist in his latest game, so he may also offer some attacking threat this week.
5. Jordan Pickford
Liverpool should take priority this week when it comes to FPL managers and their plans. However, Everton also have a double Gameweek. The Toffees face Liverpool, which will of course be tough, but they also meet with promoted side Leicester.
Taking the above into account, the best Everton asset we could buy this week, may well be goalkeeper Jordan Pickford (£5.1m). As well as clean sheet potential against the Foxes, Pickford could also rack up save points against the leagues best attack.
