FPL Gameweek 23 Top 5 Best Players to Buy on Deadline Day

Last modified date

The new round of Fantasy Premier League is here. For that reason we pick out the FPL Gameweek 23 top 5 players to buy on deadline day. To do this we consider several different factors including player form, statistics and fixture difficulty.

FPL Deadline days can be some of the most stressful and exciting times of the season. Because of that we clear out the noise and pick five players you should be considering in your team ahead of the new round. We’ll avoid players like Mohamed Salah, Cole Palmer and Alexander Isak due to their already high ownership. So, lets dive in.

1. Cody Gakpo

Liverpool should be a priority for FPL managers over the next two weeks. As well as having a plum home fixture this week, they then go onto play a double Gameweek immediately after. Liverpool head into that run whilst dominating several key underlying attacking metrics.

The double Gameweek is obviously a huge factor in Cody Gakpo’ (£7.5m) appeal. But, we also have to take into account his fixture this week. The Tractor Boys rank second worst in the league for big chances, which could be a brilliant opportunity for the Dutchman to continue his excellent home form.

2. Trent Alexander-Arnold

Another player who didn’t start for Liverpool in the Champions League during midweek was Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.2m). Liverpool rank joint first for clean sheets so far this season, which just how good they can be defensively.

With three fixtures in the next two, Liverpool have three good opportunities to keep a clean sheet. However, with Alexander-Arnold, he offers much more than that. In fact, the flying full-back has produced a goal and an assist in his previous-four matches, which shows he has multiple routes to points.

3. Bryan Mbeumo

After a tough run of fixtures, Brentford have some fantastic opportunities ahead. The Bees have been fantastic this season offensively, and rank among the top six sides, with five of the ‘big six’, for total goals scored.

Starting off their appealing run of games, is a match against Crystal Palace. This could suggest the third highest scoring player in the game, penalty taker Bryan Mbeumo (£7.8m), has potential. Going in for the dangerman early could give early adopters an edge, especially when many have their eyes set on double Gameweek assets.

4. Morgan Rogers

Next up, is a player who could work hand-in-hand with FPL managers hoping to bring in Liverpool assets. Arne Slot’ men come with big price-tags, so finding good budget picks to buy, to help enable the funds to invest in them may be essential.

Taking money out of midfield could be one of several plays you are considering this week. If so, the Aston Villa’ Morgan Rogers (£5.5m) could be a great addition. As well as producing at least one attacking return in eight matches this season, Rogers also faces three of the worst defences in the league up next, starting with a match against West Ham.

5. Anthony Gordon

Based on fixture alone this week, Anthony Gordon (£7.7m) could be one of the best assets to own in the game this week. The Newcastle midfielder managed a return in every one of his seven matches prior to his most recent outing, showing excellent consistency as of late.

What also helps towards his massive appeal this week is the fact he meets with Southampton. When compared to every other side in the league, Southampton rank the worst for big chances conceded, so Gordon is likely to bounce back after his recent blank.
