FPL Gameweek 23 Best Wildcard Team

Last modified date

The new round of Fantasy Premier League is approaching so we take a look at the FPL Gameweek 23 best wildcard team. To do this we use the Fantasy Football Scout members area and Plan FPL and their fantastic tools.

Checking out our best Wildcard team each week can be extremely helpful. The Wildcard is one of several chips provided by the game. Wildcard users can make unlimited and permanent changes to their team before the deadline ahead.

Fixtures

Below we can see the Fantasy Football Scout Fixture Ticker. We can also see the teams at the top have the easiest fixtures and the teams at the bottom have the toughest fixtures for the next six Gameweeks.

FPL Gameweek 23 Best Wildcard Team

Who has the best fixtures?

Liverpool, Everton, Crystal Palace, Brentford and Arsenal all rank among the top five teams with the easiest fixtures.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Manchester City, Ipswich, West Ham, Wolves, and Nottingham Forest all rank among the bottom five teams with the toughest fixtures.

Best Wildcard Team

With the help of the above and Plan FPL, we built the best Wildcard team for Gameweek 23:

FPL Gameweek 23 Best Wildcard Team

Goalkeepers

Crystal Palace rank very high on the fixture for the rounds ahead. So, investing could be worthwhile. One of the ways in which we can do that is with Dean Henderson (£4.5m), who has good opportunities ahead to keep clean sheets.

Lukasz Fabianski (£4.1m) backs up Henderson in goal. Some may even consider starting him ahead of the Palace man if they improve under new management.

Defenders

Liverpool have been excellent this season, but they also have a double Gameweek ahead. As well as ranking joint second best for clean sheets this season, Liverpool house the most attacking defender in the league in terms of non-penalty expected goal involvement so far, Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.2m).

Fulham still have great fixtures ahead, so bringing in flying full-back Antonee Robinson (£5m) could be beneficial. The American has racked up a huge nine assists already, making him the best in his position for that metric.

Arsenal have far from impressed defensively, especially as of late. However, they continue to maintain good underlying data, and have fairly good fixtures. Their standout option at the back is still Gabriel (£6.4m), he has scored six goals in all competitions this season, proving he has goal threat.

Leading the charge for total clean sheets, Nottingham Forest continue to raise eyebrows. One of their cheapest and most reliable options is centre-back Murillo (£4.6m).

The Everton double Gameweek in 24 will almost certainly attract FPL managers. Under new management, the Toffees could recapture some of their previous elite defensive form, and the cheap Vitalii Mykolenko (£4.3m) could benefit.

Midfielders

Liverpool’ form and double Gameweek ahead suggests it could be even more essential to own Mohamed Salah (£13.7m) long-term. The Egyptian has been the best asset in the game, so excluding him could be hugely damaging to both rank and mini-league position.

Another player who remains crucial for most fantasy managers is Cole Palmer (£11.4m). Chelsea continue to maintain some of the best attacking statistics in the league and main man Palmer is having another brilliant season.

The fixtures have turned for Brentford, which makes their impressive frontline hugely appealing again. Their most effective attacker is penalty taker Bryan Mbeumo (£7.8m), who ranks among the top three highest scoring players in the game thus far this campaign.

Aston Villa appear to have found their scoring form again, and they face some poor defences in their schedule ahead. The cheapest and most reliable attacker in the Aston Villa frontline in terms of minutes is Morgan Rogers (£5.5m).

Crystal Palace continue to improve and have great fixtures ahead. To take advantage of that we could look to Ismaila Sarr (£5.8m). Sarr is one of the cheapest picks in their attack and has proven he can be a great budget pick on multiple occasions.

Forwards

The double Gameweek and the general lack of convincing forward options makes Cody Gakpo (£7.4m) an easy pick. Starting every one of the last six matches for table-toppers Liverpool, the Dutchman has become a regular starter under fellow Dutchman Arne Slot.

Everton may not be the most convincing side from an offensive perspective, but they have evidently improved since new manager David Moyes took over. Leading their attack, and with a double Gameweek in 24, is penalty taker Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£5.4m).

Proving essential based on recent form, Newcastle’ Alexander Isak (£9.4m) takes his place in the team. It may be tempting to go elsewhere on a wildcard, but going without the best performing forward as of late could be hugely damaging to rank and mini-league position.
