FPL Gameweek 22 Best Wildcard Team

Last modified date

The new round of Fantasy Premier League is approaching so we take a look at the FPL Gameweek 22 best wildcard team. To do this we use the Fantasy Football Scout members area and Plan FPL and their fantastic tools.

Checking out our best Wildcard team each week can be extremely helpful. The Wildcard is one of several chips provided by the game. Wildcard users can make unlimited and permanent changes to their team before the deadline ahead.

Fixtures

Below we can see the Fantasy Football Scout Fixture Ticker. We can also see the teams at the top have the easiest fixtures and the teams at the bottom have the toughest fixtures for the next six Gameweeks.

FPL Gameweek 22 Best Wildcard Team

Who has the best fixtures?

Liverpool, Crystal Palace, Everton, Fulham and Arsenal all rank among the top five teams with the easiest fixtures.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Manchester City, Wolves, Ipswich, West Ham and Newcastle all rank among the bottom five teams with the worst fixtures.

Best Wildcard Team

With the help of the above and Plan FPL, we built the best Wildcard team for Gameweek 22:

FPL Gameweek 22 Best Wildcard Team

Goalkeepers

Crystal Palace rank near the top of the fixture ticker, so they have a great long-term schedule. Because of this and his fantastic price-tag, we could look to Dean Henderson (£4.5m) in-between the sticks.

Backing Henderson up is one of the cheapest playing goalkeepers in the game, West Ham’ Lukasz Fabianski (£4.1m).

Defenders

Another side who have brilliant fixtures ahead, according to the fixture ticker is Fulham. Their best option at the back is of course Antonee Robinson (£5m), who leads every other defender in the game for total assists this season, with nine.

Based on their underlying data, sticking with the Arsenal defence could be wise. As well as offering clean sheet potential, Gabriel (£6.4m) has proven attacking threat from set-plays – having racked up seven goal contributions in all competitions this campaign.

Liverpool have a double Gameweek ahead, as well as good fixtures in and around that. The standout defensive option in the Arne Slot’ defence is still arguably Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.1m). As well as taking set pieces for his side, he also edges every other defender in the game for non-penalty expected goal involvement.

Nottingham Forest have proven to be the best defence in the league so far this season. They are also in excellent form going into their clash against Southampton. With that in mind, buying into their cheap defence via Murillo (£4.6m) could be a good move.

Everton’ double Gameweek, although not convincing, could still be worthy of at least one asset. Sitting nice and cheap and playing for a good defence based on their data, we could opt for Vitalii Mykolenko (£4.3m).

Midfielders

Budget will be tight for the period ahead, especially when considering how many assets we have that cost £7m+ in the side. With that in mind, finding cheap budget picks could be crucial. For that Ismaila Sarr (£5.9m), who has excellent fixtures ahead, could be a great fit.

The Liverpool double ahead, his form, and the opportunity to play the triple captain chip in Gameweek 24, makes Mohamed Salah (£13.7m) a shoo-in. The Egyptian plays for the best current team in the league and faces some poor defences ahead.

After Liverpool this week, a fixture that Brentford have the ability to score in, the Bees have great fixtures. That means leaving out Bryan Mbeumo (£7.8m) could be a huge mistake. Mbeumo has been one of the most consistent assets in the game this season, and sits third overall for FPL points due to that.

Chelsea have been hit and miss recently, but that hasn’t prevented Cole Palmer (£11.4m) from picking up points. The talisman and penalty taker has racked up three 10-point returns in his last four matches, and we could see that returns even bigger in the matches ahead.

Morgan Rogers (£5.5m) has proven to be one of the best budget attackers in the game this season. Integral to the Aston Villa frontline, Rogers has banked two double-digit hauls in his previous three matches.

Forwards

Going without Chris Wood (£6.9m) based on his current form could be difficult. This is heightened when taking into account Nottingham Forest’ scintillating form, and the upcoming fixture against Southampton. Wood has also proven himself in tougher fixtures, his recent meeting with Liverpool is an example of that.

Newcastle still have three very good fixtures ahead of them from an attacking perspective. So, investing in their relentless frontline should be considered a must. Spearheading the attack, and in jaw-dropping form in the previous seven matches, is Alexander Isak (£9.3m).

Another great cheap option we could look at is Fulham’ Raul Jimenez (£5.6m). The Mexican is in great form and has good fixtures ahead. Some may decide they want to switch over to an Everton striker for their double as we get closer to Gameweek 24.
