FPL Gameweek 2 Best Wildcard Team

Not sure how your Wildcard should look? Don’t fear, we have put together the FPL Gameweek 2 Best Wildcard Team, which should boost you up the rankings.

To do this, we use Fantasy Football Scout’s Members Area and the fantastic Plan FPL tool.

One of several chips provided by the game, the Wildcard allows managers to make an unlimited number of free transfers to their squad. The moves made in this one Gameweek can both fix problems and plan for the future. It’s an extremely useful weapon.

Fixtures

Below is Fantasy Football Scout’s ranking of fixture difficulty over the next six Gameweeks. Teams at the top have the easiest set, while teams at the bottom have the toughest ones.

Who has the best fixtures?

A sea of green matches await Aston Villa after their toothless 0-0 at home to Newcastle.

And after a strong performance that ultimately led to an opening night defeat, Bournemouth are at home in four of their next six encounters. The first one is versus Wolves, who themselves have an appealing run.

Who has the worst fixtures?

Arguably, the Magpies should have won at Villa Park, especially once their hosts went down to 10 men. But it was a solid performance, needed before next Monday’s spicy clash with Liverpool.

Already inside the bottom three, things could get very ugly for Burnley if they don’t beat Sunderland at the weekend.

Best Gameweek 2 Wildcard

Using the official FPL website, here is the best Wildcard team for Gameweek 2 and beyond:

Defence

The best defence over the last two seasons belongs to Arsenal. A clean sheet was kept in Gameweek 1 and next is a home clash against newly-promoted Ipswich, thrusting Gabriel back into attention.

Perhaps the £1.0m in the bank can upgrade Micky van de Ven to his Spurs teammate Pedro Porro.

But this selection successfully covers Ezri Konsa’s one-match ban.

Midfield

Meanwhile, a lopsided midfield squeezes in three premium players. Ok, Erling Haaland won the first round over Salah and has better fixtures in Gameweeks 2 and 3. But the Egyptian King has earned our trust many times over.

We don’t yet know if Bukayo Saka is taking Arsenal penalties but, regardless of that, he’s still currently their best FPL attacker. He has immediate captaincy potential.

Tijani Reijnders’ FPL debut ended in double-digits, following a strong final friendly in Palermo. He could become this season’s cheat code, should he avoid ‘Pep Roulette’ rotation.

Forwards

Up front, a low-priced strike force that features two of the aforementioned great fixture runs. Evanilson is nailed-on for Bournemouth and had a few shots at Anfield, possibly taking penalties in Justin Kluivert’s absence.

Despite losing 4-0 at home to Man City, Wolves’ Jorgen Strand Larsen racked up four shots, two on target and 0.38 expected goals. Perhaps he’ll go on to continue the strong individual form that brought seven goals and two assists in the final nine outings of 2024/25.
