Best players to own

- Manchester City – A sparkling Gameweek 1 performance and good fixtures ahead makes Manchester City assets a worthy investment. Perhaps the safest route into the backline is centre-back Ruben Dias (£5.5m). Full-back Rayan Ait-Nouri (£6m) remains a good option though. In attack, striker Erling Haaland (£14m) heads into the period ahead after bagging a brace against Wolves. A goal and an assist in the opener makes Tijani Reijnders (£5.5m) a very appealing pick at his price-point.
- Chelsea – The Blues still have excellent fixtures ahead. The most reliable asset at the back is goalkeeper Robert Sanchez (£5m). Left-back Marc Cucurella (£6m) also offers stability of minutes, but also attacking threat. Midfielder and penalty taker Cole Palmer (£10.5m) remains an excellent pick in attack. Striker Joao Pedro (£7.5m) should spearhead the efficient Chelsea attack. Pedro Neto (£7m) could be the only winger to maintain gametime.
- Aston Villa – Whilst their Gameweek 1 performance left much to be desired for, they still faced Newcastle who are tough opposition. With good fixtures ahead we could see more clean sheets. Full-backs Matty Cash and Lucas Digne, both £4.5m, could be the safest routes into defence for minutes. Morgan Rogers (£7m) appears to be fully fit after his recent knock. He will likely provide striker Ollie Watkins (£9m) with opportunities. We can’t rule out midfielder Youri Tielemans (£6m) either at his price.

Who else should we consider?

- Everton – James Tarkowski (defender – £5.5m) and Iliman Ndiaye (midfielder – £6.5m).
- Bournemouth – Djorde Petrovic (defender – £4.5m), Adrien Truffert (defender – £4.5m), Antoine Semenyo (midfielder – £7m) and Francisco Evanilson (£7m).
- Crystal Palace – Marc Guehi (defender – £4.5m), Daniel Munoz (defender – £5.5m), Ismaila Sarr (midfielder – £6.5m), and Jean Phillipe Mateta (£7.5m).
- Manchester United – Patrick Dorgu (defender – £4.5m) and Bruno Fernandes (midfielder – £9m).
Should we play a chip?

- Bench Boost – FPL managers will be likely targeting this week for a Bench Boost. Bench options like Burnley’ Maxime Esteve and Martin Dubravka has a nice fixture against Sunderland, so there is potential there. The same goes for Sunderland assets who face Burnley.
- Wildcard – Being patient with your early choices will be key. However, if carrying too many issues then FPL managers will likely want to make mass changes to their squads, and that is where the Wildcard becomes handy.
- Triple Captain – Relying on premium assets for triple captaincy is wise, especially when they face promoted sides. With this in mind, Gameweek 4 when Mohamed Salah faces Burnley appears to be a great option.
- Free Hit – Gameweek 2 when Liverpool face Newcastle and Tottenham face Manchester City could be a great time to use the Free Hit. In Gameweek 3, Arsenal meet with Liverpool, which isn’t ideal for either side. Using the Free Hit there would mean avoiding that fixture and targeting weaker fixtures.
