Best Wildcard Team
With the help of the above and Plan FPL, we built the best Wildcard for Gameweek 19:
Goalkeepers
Crystal Palace rank near the top of the fixture ticker, suggesting they could be an ideal team to invest in. The cheapest and most reliable route into the defence is Dean Henderson (£4.4m).
Tottenham goalkeeper Fraser Forster (£4.3m) could be an ideal backup. FPL managers may even decide to bring him in ahead of Henderson, depending on fixture difficulty.
Defenders
Chelsea remain near the top of the fixture ticker, with more great fixtures ahead. Levi Colwill (£4.6m) is the most reliable option in the backline in terms of gametime. Colwill also showed attacking potential in his latest match, after registering an assist.
One side we could rely on for clean sheets in the rounds ahead is Arsenal. The Gooners continue to sustain excellent defensive data so bringing in Gabriel (£6.3m) could be a wise move. The Brazilian has managed an impressive six attacking returns in all competitions already this campaign, so he offers multiple routes to points.
No side has amassed more clean sheets than Liverpool this season. The Reds sit at the top of the table due to their excellent form and with good fixtures ahead, one route into their defence and attack could be flying full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.1m).
Fulham’ long-term fixtures and an injury to a key full-back, could make Timothy Castagne (£4.2m) a good pick in terms of minutes. The Belgian also registered an assist in his latest game, displaying some attacking threat.
Nottingham Forest have been one of the best defences in the league thus far. In fact, as well as keeping the joint most clean sheets, they also rank top of the league for total big chances conceded. With this in mind Nikola Milenković (£4.6m) could be a great pick.
Midfielders
The lack of midfielder options, Bukayo Saka’ injury and clear signs that Arsenal could contend for the title makes Gabriel Martinelli (£6.8m) a better option than he once was. With more minutes and responsibility without Saka around, the Brazilian could well be the Gooners next best attacking option.
Sitting second from bottom on the fixture ticker, Crystal Palace come up against some poor defences. The Eagles have several options, but the cheapest and most effective could be Ismaïla Sarr (£5.8m) who has netted three times in his previous-three league games.
Chelsea’ fixtures make Cole Palmer (£11.3m) an essential. As well returning the second most points in FPL this season, Palmer could also be an excellent alternative for captaincy in any given week.
Edging every other player in the game for points, and picking up a whopping 11 double-digit hauls this season is Mohamed Salah (£13.5m). The Egyptian is the standout captaincy option for most Gameweeks ahead, so his inclusion is vital.
Proving to be great value for money this season, Morgan Rogers (£5.4m) could be an easy addition for many. Rogers continues to be a vital cog in Unai Emery’ frontline which almost guarantees his minutes long-term.
Forwards
Chelsea rank among the top three sides for both goals scored and total big chances this season. Because of this, staying faithful to Nicolas Jackson (£8.3m) could be hugely rewarding. Benefitting from the Chelsea goals by owning just Cole Palmer could prove close to impossible, but having Jackson could counter that.
One player we just simply can’t go without currently is Alexander Isak (£9.1m). Newcastle high-flying in terms of goals scored and leading their lethal attack is this man. As well as taking penalties, Isak has also been in relentless form recently, showing no signs of slowing down.
Nottingham Forest have been fantastic this campaign, and they continue to perform better than many expect. They seem to be sustaining top four status, which makes them a must from an investment perspective. As well as offering good value defensive assets, they also have penalty taker Chris Wood (£6.6m), who scored 10 goals already this season.
