FPL Gameweek 15 Best Wildcard Team
Another round of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) is coming, so we take a look at the best Wildcard team for FPL Gameweek 15. To do this, we use Fantasy Football Scout’s Members Area and the fantastic Plan FPL tool.
One of several chips provided by the game, the Wildcard allows managers to make an unlimited number of free transfers to their squad. The moves made in this one Gameweek can both fix problems and plan for the future. It’s an extremely useful weapon.
Note: The Everton v Liverpool game has been postponed due to bad weather!
Fixtures
Below is Fantasy Football Scout’s ranking of fixture difficulty over the next six Gameweeks. Teams at the top have the easiest fixtures, while teams at the bottom have the toughest ones.
Who has the best fixtures?
Four of the big guns sit within the top five, where Man City’s recent freefall has a potentially good route to recovery. Yet the team on top – above the champions, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool – is Bournemouth. The Cherries recently picked up seven points from a run against Arsenal, Aston Villa and Man City, proving they’re capable of a good result at any time.
Who has the worst fixtures?
On the other hand, the short-term looks tricky for Everton, Leicester and Crystal Palace. Owners of Dean Henderson (£4.4m), Vitalii Mykolenko (£4.3m) and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£5.5m) need an exit plan.
Surprisingly, Man United are also down there, despite appealing encounters surrounding their trips to rivals Man City and Liverpool.
Best Gameweek 15 Wildcard
Using the PlanFPL website, here is the best Wildcard team for Gameweek 15 and beyond:
Goalkeepers
Depending on your own squad’s value, this lot should leave between £1.0m and £2.0m in the bank. It allows a double-up on Arsenal’s defence because, in a time of few reliable backlines, it’s wise to put faith in last season’s best.
Alongside David Raya (£5.5m) is West Ham’s cheap stopper Lukasz Fabianski (£4.1m), as the Pole is on a run of six league starts. Then again, the uncertain future of boss Julen Lopetegui may affect his future status.
Defenders
Last weekend, Gabriel (£6.2m) showed why he’s so popular when he scored and assisted against Fabianski.
Beside him, it’s hard to accurately predict Ruben Amorim’s favoured defence during this adaptation period but Matthijs de Ligt (£5.0m) seems more nailed-on than Noussair Mazraoui (£4.7m).
Man United have kept quite a few clean sheets but it’s Liverpool who’ve conceded the fewest goals, shots on target and expected goals. Joe Gomez (£4.8m) doesn’t have the same long-term security as Trent Alexander-Arnold (£6.9m) but he’s cheaper and seems likely to be in Arne Slot’s line-up throughout Ibrahima Konate’s (£5.3m) injury.
Levi Colwill (£4.5m) is here purely for the fixtures and Sepp van den Berg (£4.1m) feels like the least bad option from the very cheap defenders.
Midfielders
Right now, it’s hard to look past the heavyweight midfield trio of Mohamed Salah (£13.2m), Cole Palmer (£11.0m) and Bukayo Saka (£10.4m).
The Egyptian is experiencing his best-ever FPL start, which says a lot considering his history of flying out of the traps. Palmer is another to reach 100 points, ranking inside the top few for both shots and chances created.
Meanwhile, Saka is central to everything Arsenal achieve in attack. He’s the league’s best for setting up chances and creating big ones.
Joining this fixture-proof three is Antoine Semenyo (£5.7m), fresh from a suspension-fuelled rest. He’s a cheap way into those superb Bournemouth fixtures – a shot-friendly asset who ranks second-best for them overall.
Midfielder number five is Emile Smith Rowe (£5.7m), taking Fulham’s later fixtures into account. However, any leftover money could perhaps upgrade him to someone like Marcus Rashford (£7.0m) or Brennan Johnson (£6.7m).
Forwards
Up front, Nicolas Jackson (£8.2m) is risky considering Chelsea’s deep squad and the Senegalese forward remains one yellow card away from a ban. But Wildcarders can ensure he is surrounded by seven other attackers who are ready to step in, should it happen. In that situation, the risk is worth taking. An alternative is Newcastle’s Alexander Isak (£8.4m).
Matheus Cunha (£7.1m) and Joao Pedro (£5.8m) both followed their successive double-digit hauls with a Gameweek 13 blank but remain great medium-term options. There’s even a similarly-priced good run of Chris Wood (£6.6m) fixtures from Gameweek 19 onwards.
