FPL Gameweek 14 Top 5 Best Players to Buy on Deadline Day
The new round of Fantasy Premier League is here. For that reason we pick out the FPL Gameweek 14 top 5 players to buy on deadline day. To do this we consider several different factors including player form, statistics and fixture difficulty.
FPL Deadline days can be some of the most stressful and exciting times of the season. Because of that we clear out the noise and pick five players you should be considering in your team ahead of the new round. We’ll avoid players like Mohamed Salah, Cole Palmer and Erling Haaland due to their already high ownership. So, lets dive in!
1. Bukayo Saka
Arsenal go into their next game against Manchester United off the back of scoring a huge 13 goals in their last three matches in all competitions. With key players now back in the starting XI after returning from injury, Arsenal appear to be back to their best.
Benefitting from and influencing that recent form for Arsenal is Bukayo Saka (£10.4m). The penalty taker has produced a huge five assists and three goals in the same three-match period above. That same output could continue this week with a home match against a hit and miss backline.
2. Nicolas Jackson
There are several great fixtures to target this week in regards to investment. However, one stands out more than others, and that’s Chelsea’ clash with Southampton away from home. The Saints have been woeful from a defensive perspective this season. This highlights the potential amongst the Chelsea frontline this week.
Whilst most back Cole Palmer, those looking to fully take advantage of the fixture this week, could opt for striker Nicolas Jackson (£8.1m). Jackson ranks third amongst all players in the league so far non-penalty expected goals, and he has also registered three goal contributions in his last two league games.
3. Joao Pedro
The want for the more expensive options like Saka, Salah and Palmer, means cheap players are becoming more essential for FPL managers. Brighton could be an excellent place to find budget gems with great fixtures, and one of them is striker Joao Pedro (£5.7m).
Since returning from injury, the Brazilian has been back to his best. Although reasonably quiet against Southampton in Gameweek 13, the Brighton penalty taker produced a double-digit haul in both matches prior to that. Next up, he faces a Fulham side who recently 4-1 to Wolves, which is where they play again this week.
4. Jarrod Bowen
Although he has been a shoo-in for many FPL managers this season, Bryan Mbeumo seems to be slowing down massively in regards to attacking output. In fact, the Brentford midfielder has picked up just one return in his last four league matches.
The above, along with increasingly difficult fixtures, starting this week, means many within the community are looking to sell Mbeumo. One of the best replacements out there for him, could well be West Ham midfielder Jarrod Bowen (7.4m). The Hammers are coming into a lovely period of fixtures, with a clash against newly promoted Leicester first up.
5. Levi Colwill
Most defenders continue to disappoint in FPL, lacking in both clean sheet and attacking potential. Because of this, using as little as you can on them in terms of budget could be a good tactic moving forward.
Whilst some look to double up on the pricey Arsenal defence, others could invest in Chelsea. The Blues face one of the worst attacks in the league next up, and the cheapest and most reliable route into their defence is via Levi Colwill (£4.5m). Chelsea also have great long-term fixtures, so investing in him now for the period ahead could be beneficial.
