With less than 48 hours before the deadline, it’s time to lock in the FPL Gameweek 1 Team.
We’ve had a whole month to tinker, but news in the transfer window and the current climate do present their challenges.

FPL Gameweek 1 Team Updates
Since our previous draft above, a number of changes have been made. Ruben Vinagre is rumoured to be moving away from Wolves, so he has to go. Nathan Ferguson is unlikely to be fit for the start of the season too. Mason Mount felt too much of a compromise when it came to Chelsea assets, with his starting berth potentially insecure as the season progresses.
I’ve used the Fantasy Football Hub fixture ticker to help inform my decisions for Gameweek 1. We are partnering up with Fantasy Football Hub for the season and for a limited time are giving away 25% off Fantasy Football Hub Membership.

In the end, Timo Werner was preferred to Danny Ings as the premium striker: he is a world-class player and his ownership this early in the season is frightening.
The slightly release of funds have allowed a restructure in defence. Ruben Vinagre has been replaced with James Justin who is a cheap route into a normally solid Leicester defence. There’s also room to splash a little extra on a defender, with Eric Dier hotly tipped to perform in a reliable Spurs defence under Jose Mourinho.
Bruno Fernandes looked set to line the bench in Gameweek 1 ahead of Gameweek 2, but with some concern about a potential two week quarantine as he returns from Portugal, it felt a risk too far. Son Heung-Min steps in, with £2.0 million in the bank to cover the upgrade if Bruno is available for Gameweek 2.
Aubameyang is likely to be replaced with a Manchester City midfielder come Gameweek 3. Keinan Davis could become Rhian Brewster if he moves to another Premier League side before the deadline.
When it comes to captaincy, my gut has always been with Mo Salah, despite most of the FPL community noise being for Aubameyang right now. He plays in the better side, has been incredibly consistent over the last three seasons and has the home fixture.
