FPL Gameweek 1 First Draft 2020/21
Fantasy Premier League has launched for the 2020/21 season and the FPL Gameweek 1 first draft is already underway.
The fixtures are still to be announced, but there’s still plenty to consider, with prices revealed and some players reclassified.

In defence, it’s mainly budget enablers sitting alongside the expensive Trent Alexander Arnold (£7.5): he comes in more expensive than last campaign but it could have been much worse. At this price, he’s an auto-include. Mat Ryan (£4.5) currently looks the pick of the cheapest set-and-forget goalkeepers. Charlie Taylor (£4.5) looks to be a budget route into a very solid Burnley defence, compared to Nick Pope and James Tarkowski. Rueben Vinagre (£4.5) is a great way into the Wolves defence: he should capitalise on a long-term injury for Jonny and step in at left wing-back.Attack
In attack, reclassifications and depth in midfield has paved the way for a 3-5-2 formation right from the start. The main big hitters are Kevin De Bruyne (£11.5), Mohammed Salah (£12.0) and Bruno Fernandes (£10.5): they are the main men in the best three attacks in the Premier League right now. All are on penalties too. Timo Werner (£9.5) sneaks in as the fourth big name and the more premium attacker. Squeezing him in gives flexibility in this slot and I’d expect Chelsea to start the season strongly, bolstered by their big offensive signings. Michail Antonio (£6.5) sits alongside him, having ended the season in great form. All of these inclusions meant some cheaper selections elsewhere in the midfield. Phil Foden (£6.5) could have his breakout season for Manchester City, filling the David Silva role. If Allan Saint-Maximin (£5.5) can scale up his minutes from last season with offensive returns, he could be great value.Bench
It’s a bare bones bench, as we spend the minimum £4.0-£4.5 on the fillers. Any injury for Mat Ryan should be covered by his understudy, David Button (£4.0). Jan Bednarek (£4.5) is currently acting as a placeholder: fixtures and more research should allow for a good defensive rotation with Burnley and Wolves. There’s high hopes that Nathan Ferguson (£4.0) could be the budget defensive gem this season, bought in to finally replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka. In attack, Keinan Davis (£4.5) gained some minutes at the tail end of last season for Aston Villa, but is likely to be confined to last place on the bench.FPL Gameweek 1 Team
Here’s an early look at how our 2020/21 FPL Gameweek 1 team could lineup. There’s a huge amount that could change between now and 12th September so this team is very much subject to change. The fixture announcement on Friday 21st August will be pivotal to this. In addition, if Manchester City and Manchester United continue to excel in the Champions League and Europa League respectively, they could be absent from the fixture calendar in Gameweek 1 and perhaps Gameweek 2 too.
