FPL: @FPLReaction’ Top Three Picks for Gameweek 11
With the new round edging closer we bring in Fantasy Football Community and Fantasy Football Scout contributor @FPLReaction’ (Louis) to reel off his top three picks for Gameweek 11.
The early rounds are good opportunities to get off to a great start. Here I will give you my top three picks for Gameweek 11 to try and help with that. There are some very obvious options with huge potential for the new round and whilst I will list them, I will also provide you with three different picks who I think could also do well.
The obvious options
- Ollie Watkins (£8.4m)
- Moussa Diaby (£6.8m)
- Bryan Mbeumo (£6.7m)
- Kaoru Mitoma (£6.5m)
- Mohamed Salah (£12.8m)
- Darwin Nunez (£7.5m)
- Erling Haaland (£14m)
- Julian Alvarez (£7.2m)
Top three picks for Gameweek 11 – Craig Dawson
I’m never totally convinced by targeting a Wolves player or a budget defender in my top three picks but this week I really this selection.
Wolves haven’t been convincing at the back but that phrase “fixtures bring form” could be used here. They come up against, and by a distance, the worst team in the league next. Sheffield United aren’t just poor but they currently rank as both the worst attack and defence in the division.
With that in mind I really like Craig Dawson (£4.5m) as a pick. Yes he’s a centre-back and yes they’re not exactly the most exciting players in the game but he does have a certain skill set which could come in use this week and that his aerial threat. Dawson ranks amongst the best in his position for both attempts on goal and shots in box. What is interesting is that Sheffield United are extremely vulnerable from set plays and headed attempts conceded, the worst in the league in fact.
Jack Grealish
Manchester City are ‘back at it’ with three wins on the bounce and eight goals scored. Obviously the biggest issue with them is the fact they rotate their attackers so much so it’s always a guessing game.
Now I could be reaching here when I say because Jack Grealish (£7.3m) has started the last two games he should start the next. But, he’s been excellent in the matches he has played and probably their standout player in terms of creativity. An example of that came in his recent match against local rivals Manchester United where he mustered up one big chance and one key pass. It also helps that he had a shot on target and two shots off showing he has some goal threat as well.
I suppose one of the biggest reasons I’m going for Grealish this week is the fact he faces Bournemouth. Whilst there is a lot of rhetoric around how poor the newly promoted teams are defensively the Cherries rank second worst in the league for expected goals conceded, shots in the box conceded and third worst for goals conceded.
Bruno Fernandes
Where do we start with Manchester United. They always seem to have something going on on or off the pitch. A lot of their fans probably read too much into the game against Manchester City because, in my opinion, it was never a game they were going to get anything out of. It’s also very easy to forget that prior to the derby Manchester United had won three matches on the bounce.
Manchester United seem efficient against weaker teams and I think that could be the case this week against Fulham. The Cottagers are failing to convince at the back and we can see that as they rank fourth worst in the league for big chances conceded.
One of the players under huge scrutiny after the Manchester City game was Bruno Fernandes (£8.3m) but again, they were playing the best team in the world. His data is actually really impressive as he sits amongst the top four players in the division for chances and big chances created. It’s also worth noting that only five other players have had more attempts on goal than him this season which I found surprising.
Personally, I don’t own Fernandes myself anymore but I kind of wish I did. I think this game could be the start of a very good run for Bruno in FPL.
