FPL: @FPLReaction’ Top 3 Picks for Gameweek 34

The new round of Fantasy Premier League is edging closer so we invited regular contributor and fantasy football whizz @FPLReaction to reveal his top 3 picks for Gameweek 34. His picks are all players he thinks are going under the radar for the round ahead.

Seeing @FPLReaction’ top 3 picks for Gameweek 34 could be extremely enlightening. As we approach the deadline many within the community may be unsure when it comes to which players to buy. These three picks could help bring clarity around those decisions.

The Obvious Options

  • Bukayo Saka (£9m)
  • Gabriel (£5.4m)
  • Dominic Solanke (£7.2m)
  • Eberechi Eze (£6.1m)
  • Mohamed Salah (£13.5m)
  • Virgil Van Dijk (£6.6m)
  • Erling Haaland (£14.3m)
  • Anthony Gordon (£6.1m)
  • Alexander Isak (£8m)

Kai Havertz

Arsenal’ double this week is a very good one from an attacking perspective. Both Chelsea and Wolves have proven more than offensively capable and despite Arsenal’ superior defensive record this season, I think a double Arsenal attack could be much more beneficial.

Things seem to have been blown out of proportion recently I feel. Prior to their recent loss, Arsenal won five out of their previous six matches, whilst also racking up a huge 17 goals. I don’t think this form goes away because of one loss against an excellent Aston Villa side.

Bukayo Saka is going to be a lock in most teams, but I think Kai Havertz (£7.4m) should be too. Havertz continues to lead the Arsenal attack, even though categorised as a midfielder in the game. His recent form suggests he has been one of the best players in the league as of late. In fact, Havertz has accumulated four goals and four assists in his last 10 matches. He has also collected a huge four double-digit hauls in his last eight matches.

Jean-Phillipe Mateta

Things haven’t exactly been going to plan for the new man in charge but Crystal Palace did just beat Liverpool which could be a turning point. It isn’t just that though, their offensive performance Manchester City prior to that was also convincing enough for me to double up in attack.

Many aren’t keen on the Eagles this week, even with a double. But, two home matches boosts their overall appeal for me. Why? Because if you look back they won three of their last six home matches, they also scored three in all of those same fixtures. It’s also worth highlighting their upcoming opposition, Newcastle and West Ham, have been extremely suspect in defence recently away from home.

The above makes up some of my appeal for Jean-Philipe Mateta (£5m). Three goals in his last five matches shows me a striker in good form, and going into two home matches, I don’t really have to think too hard about that. Even his underlying attacking metrics are impressive. In fact, only one other striker has had more big chances in the last six Gameweeks.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Liverpool are a tough one this week. The return of Diogo Jota could cause a bit of carnage in terms of minutes, who knows we may even see Cody Gakpo given a start this week. All of that uncertainty has heled me towards a double defence, potentially.

The Liverpool defence hasn’t exactly been shabby, it’s pretty much the second best backline in the league. The Reds face Everton and Fulham this week who have both shown inconsistentencies in front of goal at times.

Most of Trent Alexander-Arnold’ (£8.4m) appeal comes from his offensive ability. He also started the game against Atalanta mid-week but I think when hope to progress to the next round was gone Klopp took him off because he wants to start him in the next two. Coming off 15 minutes early against Atalanta is enough to convince me and because of that, I think he has bags of potential this week.
