FPL Experts Ahead of Gameweek 8

Last modified date

We caught up with some FPL experts ahead of Gameweek 8. The experts included cover a range of different topics from chips and the best players to player and team form and more as we head into the new round.

Catching up with the FPL experts ahead of Gameweek 8 could be both fun and insightful. The experts cover some of the key topics ahead of the new round which could help bring clarity to some of the decisions we have to make in our own teams.

@FPLGOAT7

The international break has drawn in many conversations within the community and one of the biggest topic is Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.1m). The Liverpool defender has tough fixtures coming up, against the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Brighton and Aston Villa.

The above has led to many questioning his stay in their fantasy teams. The fixtures may be tough but Liverpool have maintained the best defence in the league so far this season. As you can see below, potential replacements are also extremely underwhelming.

@FPLOlympian

The situation with Trent Alexander-Arnold mentioned above could relate to our next topic. The injury to goalkeeper Alisson (£5.5m) is a significant one for the Liverpool defence. In some cases managers are considering selling Trent because of that.

But this also opens up the door for Coaimhin Kelleher (£4.4m). The budget goalkeeper is likely to cover Alisson whilst out with injury and could be one of the cheapest and most reliable routes into the Liverpool defence for the next several weeks. Those that sell Trent may even look to him to keep Liverpool defensive cover.

One player who has come under fire during the international break is Bruno Fernandes (£8.2m). Manchester United have been hugely inconsistent this season and that goes hand in hand with their midfielders poor output.

In his first seven matches Fernandes has produced just one assist, hugely underperforming on his strong underlying statistics. The Reds have some fantastic fixtures ahead, starting with a meeting with Brentford at Old Trafford. But, does form overrule fixtures in this case?

@Pras_fpl

Another huge moment during the international break came in the England’s controversial loss to Greece in a recent Nations League match. The loss isn’t significant to a lot of FPL managers but Bukayo Saka (£10.1m) appeared to have picked up a knock during the meet.

FPL managers will be eagerly awaiting news on Saka’s injury status in the build up to to Gameweek 8. It could be a huge match for their talisman as Arsenal meet with a Bournemouth side who have lost three of their last four matches.

@FPLReaction

Some like @FPLRection are also looking at Aston Villa assets as a potential sell with the run ahead. Unai Emery’s men have started the season strong – losing just one of their league matches so far. But, their upcoming scheduled could create concern.

Aston Villa come up against Fulham, Tottenham and Chelsea in their next six matches. However, all three sides have been extremely inconsistent defensively so far. So, would selling an in form Ollie Watkins (£9.1m) be a mistake?

Should we sell Trent Alexander-Arnold in FPL? Find out in this article here.
