FPL Experts Ahead of Gameweek 5

Last modified date

We caught up with some FPL experts ahead of Gameweek 5. The experts included cover a range of different topics from chips and the best players to player and team form and more as we head into the new round.

Catching up with the FPL experts ahead of Gameweek 5 could be both fun and insightful. The experts cover some of the key topics ahead of the new round which could help bring clarity to some of the decisions we have to make in our own teams.

Corf picked up on two big factors this week. Brentford fell short against Manchester City in Gameweek 4 but only just. The only Brentford goal in their 2-1 loss came via striker Yoane Wissa (£6.1m), a player many were eyeing up for the fixture run ahead. The issue being he picked up an injury during the match with sources suggesting he could be out for several weeks.

Those looking for a budget striker could opt for Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£5.9m) instead. Although losing every one of their four league matches this season the Toffees netted twice in their most recent two. Amongst the goals was Calvert-Lewin who produced two goals and an assist. According to the Official FDR Everton have seven out of eight green (easy fixtures) ahead which could give Calvert-Lewin the potential to add to his tally.

Gameweek 4 also saw the continuation of Erling Haaland’s (£15.2m) form. The Norwegian netted twice in his sides win and that helped him to a cool 13-point haul. Those that captained him have a big decision this week, leave the captaincy on him or look elsewhere.

One player who the managers above may look to is Mohamed Salah (£12.7m). The Liverpool talisman goes into the new round off the back blanking in Gameweek 4 against Nottingham Forest. Salah has a good opportunity against Bournemouth at home, a side who conceded more shots on goal than any other in the first three rounds.

@FPL_Calle

Calle highlighted a major incident during the previous round. Prior to Gameweek 4 many held hope for Eberechi Eze (£6.9m) as an FPL asset. Not only did he pass the eye test but he also went into his match against Leicester after scoring against Chelsea in Gameweek 3.

However, whilst Crystal Palace netted twice in their 2-2 draw to the Foxes, Eze failed to contribute anything of significance. Making his overall performance even worse for FPL managers was the fact he didn’t take a penalty when his side had earned one. There is no telling if this will repeat looking ahead but some within the community may have finally given up on him.

Those that decided to make the move over to Ollie Watkins (£8.9m) would have picked up a huge 13 points during Gameweek 4. The Aston Villa striker produced two goals against Everton, collecting three bonus for his efforts.

The Englishman seems to have finally found his feet in the new campaign which could spell trouble for non-owners. Aston Villa rank as one of the best sides for fixtures ahead and many could be eyeing up a move for their main man after his recent performance.

@FPLReaction

Chelsea caused utter frustration for many this week. The Blues scraped a 1-0 win away from home against the Cherries. But, scoring the goal was Christopher Nkunku (£6.2m) who has been one of the most sold assets this season after failing to start continuously.

Cole Palmer (£10.6m) also had a disappointing week. As well as failing to return the Chelsea penalty taker didn’t produce much at all. One player who did produce however was man between the sticks Robert Sanchez (£4.5m). As well as keeping the clean sheet Sanchez made seven saves and prevented a penalty.

With West Ham up next and good fixtures after that the Chelsea assets could become even more popular than they were.
