FPL Experts Ahead of Gameweek 3

Last modified date

We caught up with some FPL experts ahead of Gameweek 3. The experts included cover a range of different topics from chips and the best players to player and team form and more as we head into the second round of the new season.

Catching up with the FPL experts ahead of Gameweek 3 could be both fun and insightful. The experts cover some of the key topics ahead of the new round which could help bring clarity to some of the decisions we have to make in our own teams.

@FplMode

The most significant moment in Gameweek 2 happened in the Manchester City v Ipswich game. The current Champions went 1-0 down early on in the game but it didn’t take long for them to turn things around and eventually win the game 4-1.

Contributing to three of those goals was Erling Haaland (£15m) who netted three times. His performance led to a huge 17-point return which rewarded the owners who dared to use their triple captain chip on him.

In the same match popular asset and defender Josko Gvardiol (£6m) flopped due to losing the clean sheet. Meanwhile, midfielder Phil Foden (£9.5m) failed to make the squad after picking up an illness.

@FPLGOAT7

FPL Goat returned with another fantastic point. Last season Everton ended the campaign joint second best for clean sheets kept. Because of this many felt they weren’t a team to target. In fact, some felt they could trust the Toffees when it came to defensive investment.

As well as conceding three times in their 3-0 loss to Brighton in Gameweek 1 they followed it up with a 4-0 loss to Spurs. Amongst the goals was midfielder Son Heung-Min (£10m) who bagged two goals and 16 points.

Son may have an opportunity to add to his early tally with a fixture against Newcastle whilst Everton face Bournemouth at home.

@FPLfrasier

Similar to Frasier many within the community felt that avoiding Arsenal assets due to their tough starting schedule could be the correct decision. However, the Gooners were quick to put major doubts into their minds.

As well as winning both of their matches Arsenal also scored four goals and kept two clean sheets. Benefitting from the clean sheets was highly owned assets like centre-backs William Saliba and Gabriel (£6m). Contributing to three of the four Arsenal goals was star man and penalty taker Bukayo Saka (£10m) who totalled 18 points for his efforts.

All three players mentioned above could become more and more popular ahead of the Gameweek 3 deadline, even with matches against Brighton, Tottenham and Manchester City ahead.

@FPLGeneral

FPL General was one of many managers disgruntled by Bruno Fernandes (£8.5m) in the first two Gameweeks. The Manchester United midfielder failed to pick up a significant return against Fulham and Brighton and FPL managers may have finally had enough.

Manchester United face Liverpool in the next round. This could be the catalyst that pushes Bruno Fernandes owners into selling him. Some have considered downgrading him to Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers (£5m) who continues to impress and has great fixtures ahead. This would leave plenty of funds to use elsewhere. Others are also considering Bukayo Saka, Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo (£7m), Fulham’s Emile Smith Rowe (£5.5m) and Ipswich’s Sam Szmodics (£6m).

@FPLMarcin

It wasn’t just Bruno Fernandes frustrating FPL managers. Another player who has sustained some good data is Crystal Palace talisman Eberechi Eze (£7m). Eze came close to both scoring an assisting in both of his matches but it seemingly wasn’t to be.

Eze’s schedule is starting to become increasingly sketchier as the weeks progress. With matches against Chelsea, Southampton and Manchester United next up combined with poor Crystal Palace performances we could well see a dip in Eze’s overall ownership.
