FPL experts ahead of Gameweek 3

We take a look at some of the FPL experts ahead of Gameweek 3. With the new Gameweek approaching, we check out what some of the most elite managers have been talking about in the build up whether that be players to invest in, players to avoid and more.

Looking at what some of the FPL experts ahead of Gameweek 3 are talking about could be highly beneficial to other managers. Whether they discuss expected minutes, potential transfer targets, chip strategy or other key factors, it can all help to provide clarity within our own teams.

@FplMariner

Fantasy Football content creator Chris highlighted the start of the Gameweek nobody wanted. Many chose to play Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matt Turner (£4m) over other popular picks this week but that backfired.

Nottingham Forest went into their game against Sheffield United as favourites to keep a clean sheet but an excellent goal from the opposition snatched any hope of a Turner return. Many could be very hesitant about starting Turner moving forward.

@CORF_FPL

Content creator Corf made light of an injury during Gameweek 2. Tottenham had to face Manchester United this week and whilst many thought it would be tight, the Reds collapsed to a 2-0 loss. However, the victory wasn’t without a loss of their own.

Tottenham midfielder James Maddison (£7.6m) was brilliant in Gameweek 1 as he claimed nine points for his two assists. With his performance and good fixtures ahead many within the community felt bringing him early was a good move. Unfortunately Maddison left the stadium injured so it could be worth monitoring news ahead of the Gameweek 3 deadline.

@FPLMarcin

Marcin emphasised frustration within the community this week. Manchester United were hugely unconvincing in their first game against Wolves and arguably very lucky to claim their 1-0 win. That luck soon ran out this week as they flopped to a 2-0 loss against Spurs.

Both Manchester United midfielders Bruno Fernandes (£8.5m) and Marcus Rashford (£9m) have been questioned due to their recent performances. Not only have both players failed to return in their last two matches but their performances have also been poor. Managers could be in for a tough decision ahead as the Reds face Nottingham Forest in Gameweek 3 but then Arsenal and Brighton after that.

@FplMode

Fantasy Football Scout contributor Andy touched upon one of the most anticipated asset battles of the round. Many within the community did not start the season with Liverpool midfielder Mohamed Salah (£12.5m). Because of this, non-owners were limited to captaining Manchester City striker Erling Haaland (£14m).

The Egyptian played first against Bournemouth. He banked a six-point return after scoring the rebound from a missed penalty in a 3-1 win against Bournemouth. Haaland followed but Manchester City struggled to breakdown Newcastle as many expected. With that came a Haaland blank leading to Salah winning the battle.

There are some takeaways from the above. One of them being that Salah is performing below is very steep price-tag and for those that started with him, it could be time to let go. Another interesting takeaway is that Newcastle defended very well against the holders which could boost their appeal when fixtures turn.

@Pras_fpl

Fantasy Football Scout contributor Pras shared his delight for one player in particular. Brentford start the campaign with some fantastic fixtures and with that and the fact he takes his sides penalties midfielder Bryan Mbeumo (£6.6m) has become favoured within the community.

Mbeumo started off his campaign with a goal after converting a penalty against Spurs. He then went onto net twice in Gameweek 2 against Fulham – helping him reach a huge 16-point haul. With Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Everton in the next four matches for Brentford, we could well see Mbeumo’ ownership rocket.
